3 holiday replies (Two ex Accrington players)

While I was away,I had replies from two former players and one current player.

Ian Gibson started his career with Accrington Stanley in 1958 before playing for Bradford Park Avenue,Middlesbrough, Coventry,Cardiff and Bournemouth where a serious injury finished his career in 1972.

Ernie Machin became one of Jimmy Hill's first signings for Coventry City in 1962 and made his debut against Millwall on 8 April 1963.He made 289 appearances for the clubwhich would have been higher had it not been for long-term knee injuries. In 1972 he moved to Plymouth Argyle and made such an impression in his two seasons that he was inducted into their Hall of Fame in 2004, and was also included in their Team of the Century. He finished his playing career with Brighton & Hove Albion before returning to Coventry City as a coach in 1976.

In 1972 he became the first English football player to successfully challenge a fine and suspension by the Football Association in the English courts. He was sent off in a game apparently for kicking an opponent, however TV evidence showed that he was innocent; nevertheless the FA noticed something else which he had done and upheld the disciplinary action without allowing him to present a defence. The courts ruled against the FA, and the PFA established the rights of players to legal representation in disciplinary cases

My last reply was from Brett Ormerod who has just moved to Wrexham.

Brett also started his career with Accrington before moving to Blackpool,Southampton,Preston and Blackpool again. He has also played on loan with Leeds,Wigan,Nottingham Forest,Oldham and Rochdale.

He is the only played to have scored in all four divisions for Blackpool.
