***New quick listing tool to help new private sellers create successful listings***

18 January, 2013 | 12:16PM GMT

On 15 January, we began introducing a new short version of the listing ('Sell your item') form.

The new quick listing tool helps new sellers to create successful eBay listings even more quickly and easily. We'll show you suggestions and tips to take the guesswork out of choosing categories, listing format, pricing and postage options.

Initially, we'll be making the new tool available to a small number of private sellers who are new to listing on eBay. If all goes well, we'll increase the number of sellers who can use it. Eventually it will replace the current Quick sell listing form. Of course, we'll keep you updated on our progress.

What does the quick listing tool do?

  • Fast, effective listings: Put in some keywords about the item you're selling, and we'll show you some similar items which have recently sold, to give you a starting point for your listing. You can also enter a product number (ISBN or UPC), if you have one.
  • Save time on photos: Depending on what you're selling, we may be able to supply a stock picture for items in our catalogue. The first picture on any listing is free.
  • Easy research: To help you decide on pricing, you can see how high the bidding went for similar items, and what other sellers have set as a Buy it now price.
  • Guidance: We'll recommend the best listing format, duration and postage options for your item.

Some listing features won't be available in the quick listing tool, but you can click the Switch to advanced tool link at any stage to change listing forms.

Note: The quick listing tool isn't available for these categories: Cars, Motorcycles & Vehicles, Events Tickets, Holidays & Travel, and Property.
