Dear Sellers,

Following recent guidance from the Department of Transport, all sellers of e-scooters are required to include a disclaimer on their listings concerning the illegal use of privately owned e-scooters on roads and pavements.

UK regulations state it is illegal to use a private e-scooter on public roads (except under very specific circumstances), pavements, or cycle paths. They can only be used on private land with the permission of the owner or occupier of the land.

Sellers of e-scooters are required to include the following disclaimer in the item description before listing an electric scooter or e-scooter on eBay:

“Warning: It is illegal to ride electric scooters on public roads (except under very specific circumstances), pavements, or cycle paths. They are intended only for use on private land with the owner’s permission.”

The disclaimer should be clear and visible at the top of the listing, and it should be added to all relevant listings, whether you are updating on desktop or mobile.

Any listings for e-scooters which do not contain the above disclaimer will be removed.
