Button and coin batteries are used to power everyday consumer and household products, such as watches, car key fobs, remotes, and children’s toys. Because of their size and shape, button and coin batteries are easily swallowed and can cause health issues or death, in particular for young children.

If you sell in any categories where products are more likely to contain button or coin batteries, please review the PAS 7055 outlining the safety requirements for button and coin batteries to ensure your products meet the safety standards before listing on eBay.

The PAS (UK Publicly Available Specification on button battery safety) is a UK specification aligned with The General Product Safety Regulations 2005 (GPSR) and applicable to products sold into the UK. The requirements are considered by the UK regulators when assessing the safety of a product and the Office for Product Safety and Standards (OPSS) encourages businesses to implement the specification for battery safety.
