This is not a *slimming club* really.

I think it would be nice to have a place to come & chat about weight loss ideas (safe sensible ones only please!),
to share personal experiences and achievements, and also to ask for help.

Lindi is our resident expert, and has kindly offered her help.
Just introduce yourself and come on in, you are most welcome!

Ohhh Sparkle - the other weekend I had 2 1/2 pizza's garlic bread, bottle of wine, dark rum etc - tried to count the points the next day and gave up at 44!

Minimal eating the next couple of days and when I weighed myself on the Thursday, I'd lost 2lbs! Did put on 1lb the next week though so it caught up with me.

A good blow out does you good once in a while and (for me anyway) motivates you to keep going.

LOL, it's like many things, once they are gone (& enjoyed) you then have to face the consequences!lol
Apart from what I had during the day yesterday (no idea as to how many points, I haven't written them down this week & wish I had, silly me), I had
1 pancake roll = 5pnts
crispy duck (3 pancakes) = ? (know it's a lot though)
1/2 portion fried rice = about 7?
chicken curry = ? possibly about 8
prawn crackers = ? about 4
crispy beef = ? about 5
BBQ ribs x 3 = at least 7points!

Hmmmm maybe 44 would be getting close ! EEEEK!
May have to hold back on da chokky pud for a wee while LOL
Must get the proper eating out points book, went to get it last week & someone told me they have one I can have but I haven't seen her yet to get it lol
Just had ready brek instead of my usual PB on toast!
see! saved some already lol

Hi all

Just noticed this thread and thought I'd drop in.

I'm 21, five foot eight and four stone overweight. At 17, I was five and a half overweight. I calorie counted religiously for six months and lost 3.5 stone, but put that back on over the first year at uni.

This year's a big one for me - I sit my last final exam next week. I've got my graduation ball on June 16th, a holiday booked for the 3rd of July and then graduation on 13th July. I desperately want to loose at least two stone by then.

Ten days ago, I started Atkins for the second time. I did it last spring, and lost 2 stone in eight weeks. I've managed to keep 1.5 stone of that off over the past year. I'm not planning on keeping on it that long this time - causes me to feel quite low. My intention is to keep on it til my exams finish, have a good evening out with my friends that night, then calorie count.

I don't feel too bad on Atkins, although friends report they feel dizzy or sick. But I do find it hard not to be allowed one biscuit, or one glass of wine. At the end of next week, my plan is to stick to light meals such as salads, soup and sandwiches, and allow myself healthy snacks like Ryvita and bananas, with the occasional chocolate bar or bag of crisps.

Guess I'll be a regular on this thread for a few weeks. Don't get me wrong - I know I need to change my lifestyle rather than crash diet. But I leave uni in a month, so my life will have to change then anyway. I'm just hoping to kick start the loss at the moment.

Hi Uni - nice to see you.

I don't personally agree with the Atkins theory (think long term it is soooooo bad for you to eat all that fat) but for a quick fix to get you started, by all means give it a go. After a couple of weeks, I'd seriously think about switching to something like WW or SW etc which are so much more based on lifestyle changes.

Best of luck with the diet and let us know how you get on.

I belong to slimming world where you have to syn your treats, today I made one malteser last 10 mins by letting the chocolate melt on my tongue (Mmmmmmm) then having a mouthful of cold water to harden it up again.

I tried atkins, never felt so ill in my life, and quick weightloss really isnt good (unless you want saggy bits).

Good morning everyone

Went to WW meeting last Wednesday and lost 3lbs, got my second silver seven. I have now lost 14½ lbs, can't believe I have a stone off me. Starting to see my goal now, only have another 8½lbs to get to my target weight. Love Weight Watchers, only diet that works for me, think it's great that if you are bad and go over your points you can always make them up.

I also love the WW crispie bars as they kill the chocolate craving for my elevenses. Most days I would have two treats for 1½ each (one in morning and one at night), loads of stuff you can eat like the WW bars, Cadburys mini rolls, rice krispie squares, WW chocolate eclairs (delicious), 3 rich tea biscuits, 2 WW chocolate cookies, etc.

I love this thread hope everyone keeps at it.

(Sorry to hear about your job Ivvie but hope you are enjoying your holiday, and letting yourself have a few treats)

hi all

I promised to "weigh in" with you guys every week so here goes

According to my scales last night I have lost 1lb and 1% body fat

Would have been better but went to my sister's birthday party on Sat night and undid some of the good work I had done in the week!

I am actually going to go back to WW meetings from tonight after all (am taking a friend with me and hoping that between us we can control my whirling dervish of a toddler!)

I'll let you know how I get on...

Well done redmary & sarah!
That's 4lb gone, between two posts!
I am keeping my fingers crossed for a 'stay the same' verdict tonight lol.
I was bad at the end of the week (sat & sun) so I have now run out of time to repair any damage!
That'l teach me!
In a couple of weeks our weigh in night is changing to a tuesday, so that should help a bit lol,
(extra day away from the weekend to make ammends lol).
It is good though sarah, as you can still go out & enjoy yourself & still have a loss!
Good on you!
Me? I think i've stretched that a little too far this time but back on track today & thereafter!
Good luck with da lil' one tonight!

Woo hoo! I went to Slimming World last night and I've lost 2 lbs! Really chuffed after staying the same for what seemed like ages.

I'm doing the speed week again this week, I spoke to my consultant and she said it was okay to do it again. I need a boost before I go on holiday so hopefully it'll work.

WELL DONE JAY!! 😄
So pleased for you, sometimes when you stay the same for so long, you start to think it's never gonna come off!
That's great!
I'm chuffed too, as last night's weigh in made me 1 happy bunny!
I lost (amazingly) 1/2 a pound!!!
(bringing my total to 9 1/2lb now)
It has made me more positive for this week, as I know I have to be extra good. Otherwise them extra points I had Sat & Sun' will still be settling in!
We had a laugh (some at my expence lol) at class last night, as I confessed to using 6-8 points just for my brekky!
My leader asked me (to my horror lol) to try & have just 18 points per day for this week!!!(Aaaaargh!)
I now declare MY home as a peanut butter FREE ZONE (lol) for at least the next 8 days!
I tried to tell her that when you have cerial & have added the milk, it's about the same anyway (Hmmmmm!)
She said it might be a good idea for me to get my points book out & have a wee looksey! lol
I know she's right! lol
It's amazing how you add points onto something else to compensate your unnecessary munchin' lol.
So NO PB or any butter for me this week & DEFINATELY no take-aways!
Got to catch up with my buddy, she's leaving me standing lol.(5 1/2 lb in the lead).
Off to the zoo in a couple of hours with da kiddies, have made a salad sarnie & cut up some fresh pineapple.
here goes! lol
Also having cerial for brekky (all this week). lol

Have a great day everyone!
The sun is shining!
& the butter's locked away!

Oh well - I started back at WW meetings last night - nice to be back - even if their scales did weigh me 3lb heavier than my home scales - grrrrr!!

Am feeling really motivated today - filling in my journal, ticking off the water cups and fruit & veg portions!

:-)

Went to my meeting last night and lost 2 ½ pounds! Woo hoo!! I am very pleased as I went a bit overboard on the boozing over the weekend. Who knew that you can still have a Macs or KFC and still lose weight! I am a very happy bunny and shall celebrate by having a 1½ points choccie crispie bar LOL 🙂

HELP!!! Going to WW tonight - haven't been for 7 weeks (due to being unable to get out because of foot op).

Home scales must be wonky (really!) as they weighed me at xx st 6.5lbs, xx st 3.5lb then back up to 7lbs (all in 3 days).

Surely you can't change that much in that time period?

I know you should only weigh yourself once a week but wanted to check they were working. Seems that they're not so now really worried about going tonight.

Sparkle - do you like toast?

I have 2 x WW Malted bread toasted with 2 teaspoons of Raspberry Jam (only 2 points).

Have to have my milky coffee or just can't get going - 1/4 pink skimmed milk with freshly ground coffee.

Only 2.5 points total.

Hello all

Glad to hear that everyone's doing well on the losing-front 🙂 It gives you a real boost when you think you've been doing badly, or have had a "sin day" and feel really down in the dumps about it all.

lily_lass

They sound just like our scales, you can weigh yourself and be, say 9st 7, then about half an hour later, have put on 2 - to 3 lb's!! Crazy! Not that we weigh ourselves hourly, you understand! We just like to keep an eye on how our frustrating scales are doing! Wonder if we have the same make? 😉

Minx - out of curiosity, just went and tried them again.

2.5 lbs heavier than this morning. Now that's just not right.

Think I'll take them back as I've only had them about a month.

I really do understand your frustration - take them back, or perhaps put a new battery in and try that before you do - could that be the problem? I know you've only had them a month, but some are really battery-hungry 😞 Ours are Salter electronic ones, btw.

Hi Minx

They've got lifetime lithium batteries so it shouldn't be that.

I actually got them from my catalogue and have been looking through the returns policy - 14 days - after that you have to contact them and it's up to their "discretion". Off to give them a phone now, they'd better take them back as they weren't the cheapest!

Gofi - can't do calories - WW points? 100g = 1 point.

Don't know if that helps.

Think a point is roughly 100 cal not sure how much fat though.
