*The Nags head healthy eating group*

This is not a *slimming club* really.

I think it would be nice to have a place to come & chat about weight loss ideas (safe sensible ones only please!),
to share personal experiences and achievements, and also to ask for help.

Lindi is our resident expert, and has kindly offered her help.
Just introduce yourself and come on in, you are most welcome!

Re: *The Nags head healthy eating group*

Good morning everyone 🙂

I didn't get chance to pop in yesterday but needless to say it was a bad one again.
I had a total of 38 points thanks to the misuse of my allowance! Hmmmmm!
Wont list it in detail but I had an indian meal, voddys & a few snacks yesterday.
For my sins I am only allowed 17 points per day for the rest of this week (4 days till WI).
I have pointed everything so far but feel I am fighting a losing battle this week!
I know if I stay within my points I should lose but surely not with all the *naughtys* I have had this week!
I just can't see it's going to work! 😞
Can it? Hmmmm might give my leader a call.
How's everyone else doing?

Have a great weekend everyone 🙂

Re: *The Nags head healthy eating group*

Hi Sparkle - whoops!

You can manage on 17 points (I had to do 18 for 4 weeks - it was hell!) but won't be easy though.

Breakfast: 3 points
Lunch: 6 points
Dinner: 7 points
Treat: 1 point

Not easy but possible!

Good luck

Having a so/so week - started off OK & walked home from work today - 1st time since op and took me 40 mins instead of the usual 20!

Fancy a chinese now though!

Re: *The Nags head healthy eating group*

Sparkle - let me give you a little advice!! Speaking as someone who has now been doing ww for a year I have had days like you have just had. What you need to do is move on. Forget that day, it was only one and then go back to your points the next day. If you restrict your points for the rest of the week trying to make up for it you are more likely to go over again or become hungry and demotivated. I felt the same as you and spoke to my leader (who is also my neighbour and a very close friend) - she gave me the advice I have given you. It works. You may only lose a little this week, or stay the same, but it is only one week. You are in this for the long haul - it is not a quick fix and it doesn't end when you get to goal. This is for life.

Look at what you have achieved so far and not what you have still to achieve. This always works for me. Before I put on 4 lbs on my holiday I had lost a grand total of 48 lbs and only had 4 lbs left to lose to get to goal. OK I now have 8 lbs to lose but I have still lost 44 lbs. That's what keeps me going.

Don't make it harder for yourself. Losing weight is not easy and you should not try and make it worse! You will fail if this healthy eating plan becomes a diet. Sorry this is so long winded but I really do speak from experience! (Maybe you could do a little more exercise instead of trying to manage on less points? I earn at least 3 every day but don't eat them, it helps the weight come down and makes me feel good too.)

Keep up the good work.

Re: *The Nags head healthy eating group*

Hi ivvie, thank you very much for your advice, I just don't know what's got into me this week!
Maybe *girlie week* is due! (haven't kept track unfortunately) 'cos I am like a woman possessed!
Had 17 points left for each day & as you have earlier said, I will just feel deprived & go over again!
Needless to say I have :_|
Todays total is an outstanding 32.5!!!!
that leaves me with only 12 points to spend each day! (for the next 3 days)!!
Feel like it's a downward spiral that I just can't jump off, of!
Can anyone suggest a menu containing just 12 points lol?
I am willing to try anything for the next 3 days, looks like it's fruit for brekky in the morning!
Hopefully I will wake up more focussed tomorrow to repair some damage!
I need to do more activities but with 2 young children (3yo & 1yo) it isn't always easy to find the time.
I am going to spend some time in the garden tomorrow cleaning out & refilling the pool, which although will be done with the hose will need some buckets of hot water too!
Guess who will be lugging them out? lol
I will carry as many as I can lol, will be the warmest pool in the area! lol
Thanks again for your help, I will be back on track before you know it! 😉
See yas tomorrow, with a more positive outlook

Re: *The Nags head healthy eating group*

Morning all

I did have the chinese last night! But, I went for Chicken Chow Mein which was 7.5 points - it was fantastic and I'm hoping will help re-motivate me.

Sparkle - write off this week & refocus for next week. There's no way you can live of 12 points for the next few days.

Milsna - WW do include receipes for vegetarians in their monthly books (as well as the cook books). I'd see if there is a meeting in your area and go along and have a chat with the leader.

Ivvie - have you ever lost motivation during your weight loss? I did really well until about 3 weeks ago but just seem to have "stuck in a rutt" now. Not overeating in a major way but not quite able to stick to it either.

Re: *The Nags head healthy eating group*

Sparkle do as Lily and I say! Just write off the two days you have been bad. Forget them. Start again. How many points should you be eating each day? Just stick to those until you have weigh in. Then start your new week with the determination NOT to blow your points. However, if you do have a bad day then just forget it and start the next day as if it were the start of the new week.

I should be on 20 points per day but I just maintain if I eat them despite the amount of exercise I do. So my Leader advised dropping to 18 as I am so close to my goal weight (or I was until my holiday!) Believe me 18 points can be tricky so don't even attempt 12. On 12 points you will not only become demotivated cos you are hungry but also you will not lose weight. Your body will think it is starving and will store everything you put in. Think how depressing that will be at the scales. So please, please go back to your normal points and forget your bad days.

Milsna, I agree with Lily about ww. They have a whole menu plan for vegetarians which the leader can give you. If you buy the shopping guide you will be able to point what you eat yourself. I'm not a veggie but I don't follow the ww menus. I eat what I want so I work out the points for myself. WW works for everyone.

Lily (gosh this is getting long) - yes I get demotivated! I am currently very demotivated. Before my hols I was aiming to get at close to goal as I could before we went away. I was 4 lbs above target then I went away. Now I'm back up to 8 with no fixed goal in mind. Having failed to get a job as a ww leader (due to the AM not liking me rather than me failing the test like she had said) I just feel "what's the point?" at the moment. Desperately trying to get myself back on track but feeling very down! I'm great at motivating others but useless at doing it for myself! My advice to you is to look at what you have achieved so far. Take something from your wardrobe that is too big and go "yahay!" then get out something which is a bit tight (not 2 sizes too small) and make that your aim - to fit into it properly. Keep taking it out and trying it on and you might just find your motivation returns!

Good Luck!
