*The Nags head healthy eating group*

This is not a *slimming club* really.

I think it would be nice to have a place to come & chat about weight loss ideas (safe sensible ones only please!),
to share personal experiences and achievements, and also to ask for help.

Lindi is our resident expert, and has kindly offered her help.
Just introduce yourself and come on in, you are most welcome!

Re: *The Nags head healthy eating group*

Hope everyone else's diets are going ok, I didn't have enough will power to resist the work biscuit tin today 😞 but i'm going to try harder next week 🙂

Can anyone tell me if there is a ww book or something? I really don't want to go to classes and have no desire to have someone phoning me up to see how i'm doing (I hate the phone!) I just want to follow it at my own pace on my own. Thanks.

I know I haven't posted many times but I keep reading this thread and its good to read the tips and know you're not the only person trying to lose weight!

Have a good weekend everyone,

Rachel

Re: *The Nags head healthy eating group*

Rachel you have a really odd view of weight watchers. The leaders don't phone you at all - unless you have called them and they need to call you back later.

You can't get weight watchers books unless you join. The programme has built in support - people who stay to the meetings get on a a lot better than those who don't. You can join ww online, no need to go to a meeting and you still get online support etc.

Re: *The Nags head healthy eating group*

Sparkle

I do have a question re slimming world if that's okay.

I seem to be staying at the same weight recently. I've upped my exercise regime, going to the gym 3 times a week, swimming and jogging. My consultant told me that I should be losing weight, and that I wasn't eating enough free food.

She told me that in order to stay the same or weigh more with exercise, you would have to weight train like Arnold S(can't spell his last name, sorry).

Is that right? I'm following the plan 100% and exercising, but staying the same. Is that normal? Cheers for any help.

Re: *The Nags head healthy eating group*

Hi Jay

As long as you aren't lifting too much weights at the gym you are doing great.
It's best to lift less weights but do more rep's with them, than lift heavy weights & do less rep's.
I was once told that you should be able to do around 15 rep's (or more) on each side without wincing, feeling pain or stopping.
If you cant do this then you are using too many weights at a time.
The less weights & more rep's you do, will tone not build!
Hope that makes sense! lol

Regarding your free foods, if you are doing the origional plan (red), are you eating LOADS of meat/fish or poultry?
If you are doing the green plan, are you eating plenty of pasta, rice & potatoes?
Also are you using both of your healthy extra's?
They are very important to your weight loss & you wont lose any more weight if you try & cut them out.
Without the fibre intake your body will hold onto all the carb's or protein (depending which plan you are on at the time) you have eaten.
Also do you drink a lot of coffee?
My SW leader told me that this can make you retain a lot of fluids & slow up weight loss too!
I can only stress that you must really eat loads if you want to get good results! I know it sounds crazy but it is so true.
Follow the free foods in the main book also, rather than the sin free branded label foods, available in da shops as they (although are free) slow down your weight loss too!
I hope this has helped, even a little.
Please feel free to ask away, I pretty much know the plan inside out lol!
Oh & are you drinking plenty of water?

Chat again soon
:-)

Re: *The Nags head healthy eating group*

It has helped, thanks Wendi.

I'm vegetarian so stick to all green days. I eat plenty of pasta, rice, potatoes etc. I don't drink much water though, although lots of diet pepsi.

I did the 7 day strict plan with them and lost 8 1/2 lbs in one week. Kept it off too, which surprised me. Bit stuck now though.

Re: *The Nags head healthy eating group*

Hi Jay
Try & cut down your DP & have more water, maybe every other day on da pepsi & every other on water.
If that doesn't work then try more water days the following week.
If you don't drink enough water, your body holds on to what you DO drink as it doesn't know when it will get any more, thus making you retain more fluid than is necessary, making you heavier!
I am the worlds worst at water intake but I am going to try & make myself (too) next week to help give me a boost.
Boring I know but if it makes that weight come off, it's so worth it.
Are you eating plenty of fruit & veg too?
Try to have plain ole' pasta & rice & flavour it yourself rather than ready made flavoured ones, pasta in sauce & tinned (as I said earlier).
Have you tried the 7 day plan again since? may be worth another go!
Change your healthy exra's too, to something completly different to what you have been doing.
Even dried fruit or nuts etc.

I'l have a looksey at the book again over the weekend & will let you know if I come up with anything else, until then keep firing away if you have any more Q's
:o)

Re: *The Nags head healthy eating group*

Lindi I think I'll apply for the SAS as I think the interview would be less gruelling! I arrived early (9:30) she arrived early (9:45) so I introduced myself at 9:55 and she bagan. It didn't end until 11:45!!!! I was absolutely drained! However, I think it went well. She was very positive with her comments, asking about availability for training and two sessions which need filling in this area etc. I'll know how I did on Wednesday - she needs to speak to the Regional Manager who is away until Tuesday. I think they have to compare notes etc. At least I will know one way or another before I go on my hols on Thursday evening!

Oh, and by dropping my points - lost loads!! 😄 (I should get silver seven number seven this week too - a total of 49 lbs lost if I do!) I'm sticking to 18 points and will be sensible on my holiday (though I won't be miserable - if I want ice cream I will have it!!) Should reach target quite soon after I return.

Re: *The Nags head healthy eating group*

Hi all!

Went to my WW class tonight (after missing the last two with a bank holiday & a trip to Disneyland) & was chuffed to see that despite my wee slip here & there I have lost another 1 1/2 lb's.
This brings my total to 9lb's so far!
My friend who goes with me has reached her first stone tonight! so I had better be extra good this week as I wanna try & keep with her.
(After all, I need to lose a fair bit more than her so should be closer to her loss than I am).
Well chuffed especially, as my scales said I had gained 3lb after my trip, so (if they are accurate) I have lost that 3lb as well as the 1.5lb tonight in the last 5 days.
Either way i'm happy.

hows everyone else doing?

Re: *The Nags head healthy eating group*

This is a great idea. It's fab being able to hear other people's tips/pitfalls etc.

I've been doing WeightWatchers since end of Jan. Had a slow start but have averaged 1.5lbs per week which is OK.

Got to my 10% couple of weeks ago which was fab. I've lost 20lbs altogether.

Being struggling a bit since then. I've been in the house for 6 weeks after foot op & can't get around much. Was very surprised that I'd lost anything at all the one week I made it to my class (5.5lbs in 4 weeks).

Now it seems as though I've just got stuck, estatic at what I've lost and less than a stone to go - but just struggling.

I've only been able to get to 1 class in 7 weeks now and think that's the big problem.

Congrats to everyone that's lost - just imagine lugging all that extra weight around!

Re: *The Nags head healthy eating group*

Happy birthday census' (or belated if i'm late).
Try not to be dissapointed, after all it's going in the right direction & as long as it comes off (not goes on) that's fab'.
I've always been told that the longer it takes to come off, the longer it stays off!
Good luck for next week 🙂

Hi lilly lass
Congrat's on your 20lb loss!
Wow that's great!
Last night our leader bought in a 2 litre bottle of pop & passed it around for us to guess the weight of it.
It was 4lb!!!!
If your'e up to it (doubt it with your sore foot) try & pick up & hold 5 bottles next time your out lol.
'cos that's what you have lost so far!
I have lost 9lb (just over two bottles lol) & I wouldn't want to be carrying just two bottles around for any length of time lol.
20 lb's is major, you have done so well!
Me? Well i've lost 2 bottles+ (=9lb) with another 17 bottles to go (68lb GULP!!!).
I am not setting any dates to get mine off, just over the moon to lose half a pound or more each week, so far I am averaging 1.5lb per week.
In an ideal world I would love to get it all off by christmas but as long as i'm over half way I will be chuffed to bits.
If not I will have to try harder but in the end I WILL get there, however long it takes!:D

Good luck on todays news ivvie, can't wait to hear from you!

& Good morning everyone :x

Re: *The Nags head healthy eating group*

Sparkle Dust - bottle of pop's a good one as I drink loads of them & lug them back from the supermarket so know how heavy they get after a while. I can manage 4 bottles at the mo - which is less than I've lost, that's mad!

We use packs of lard = 1/2lb. That way if you loose just 1/2lb a week, you can still relate it to something. 5 bottles of pop sounds better though!

Well done on your loss so far & keep it up.
