Non Payment buyer has 42 Non Payments Against her. Why is eBay allowing this?

Non payment from ebayer, I cancelled it then checked there feedback. In hignsight I should of done that first. I counted 42 non payments. I tried to get through to them but no answer. I'm wondering why eBay has allowed this person to upset so many sellers.

I have a book that I write non payers users names into and if I am
suspicious after 48 hours I check the book. I also block bidders after one
non payment as once bitten twice shy. I take no prisoners as I am fed up
with buyers thinking they can do exactly what they want and be rude and
obnoxious and we can’t respond for fear of it affecting our statistics and
account rateability. No longer worry about it. As I said there is no
point in there being feedback for buyers as everything gets ticked as
positive. What we need is a button that says DID NOT PAY.

Why do things take longer over the weekend period then? Nothing to do with
my preferences. But whether they do or not is not the point here it’s the
non payers that’s the problem and it’s on the increase.

What things take longer on the weekend?

Btw I average one NPB per year.... perhaps it's the items I list & the demographic that is drawn to them.

Must be you only attract the wealthy plenty of money customers unlike us
other mere mortals. Customer service is slower and always has been and I
was told limited staff. Understandable they gave families. Have a lovely
weekend

Customer services are not needed for non payment cancellations, it's all done automatically.

There is one.  Buyers are allowed 4 days in which to pay after which the option to cancel for the reason 'buyer didn't pay' will appear.   The buyer will then receive a non payment strike.  You can set your buyer requirements to block buyers with 2 or more non payment strikes in the last 12 months.

If all sellers did this it would work very effectively.

That is a very good idea, although a spreadsheet would be more efficient as it would save having to manually look through lots of user names.

Ebay needs to start auto pay when bidding ends.  Winning bidder has payment taken.  Ebay says s winning bid means sold, then take the payment .  I have started listing on buy it now as bidders , if you get any, don't bid until the item is practically finished.

Ebay has recently introduced auto-payment for auctions.  Whilst it will reduce the number of non payers, unfortunately, it creates lots of other problems for buyers and sellers making it rather counterproductive.

What is the problem of buyers bidding near the end of the auction?  When they bid makes no difference to the outcome.

A bidder hasn't paid me after 5 days and I didn't notice her feedback. 100% but all negative comments say she never pays. Over 50 comments in a month. The customer says in her description that she is severely disabled (but is well enough to bid so it seems). I'm shocked that this can happen.

You need to cancel the sale using the option 'Buyer hasn't paid'.   That will result in her receiving a 'Non payment strike' and your eBay fees will be credited back to you.

Then add her to your blocked bidders list so that she can't do the same to you again.

Finally, ensure that your 'Buyer preferences' are set up to block buyers with 2 or more 'Non payment strikes' in a 12 month period.

If all of those other sellers had done the same, instead of leaving false positive feedback, and you had your 'Buyer  preferences' set up correctly then she wouldn't have been able to bid on your item in the first place.

Thank you I will do. I'm sure more people must have done this though so I don't think the strike system is working otherwise she wouldn't be allowed to bid.

And I didn't know about the preferences but so I'll do that too. Ty

Don’t be shocked. Every scam is available to the buyer. Why can’t a
seller leave negative feedback. They run up 100% positive because you
can’t leave negative. They are just timewasters. Like the others said,
edit preferences and block her. I had 4 non payers and my prefs are set
and I block everyone who doesn’t pay once, no second chances to waste my
time. It’s the same as returns for not as described. They are as
described and we still have to refund. I make buyers wait now and argue to
the fullest of time allowed when I know I am in the right. Ebay needs to
sort these things out.

Don't be too sure about that. So many sellers aon't bother serching the help section to learn about the non payment process, preferring to leave venomous feedback that does absolutely no good to anyone.

Re: Non Payment buyer has 42 Non Payments Against her. Why is eBay allowing this

It's the 4 day wait which is the problem here. Most sellers aren't willing to wait that long before cancelling the order.

If ebay reduced it to 48 hours, many more sellers would be willing to wait before cancelling the order, and then file the non-paying bidder report.

Of course cancelling the order early presents risk as well. The non-paying buyer could also give negative feedback to the seller out of spite.
