D Day Veterans Portraits.

Has anyone else seen the portraits of 12 D Day veterans, commissioned by Prince Charles? You can go to culture24.org.uk to see them. They are fabulous....every one of them. Brings a tear to the eye.

Particularly like the top portrait. Very evocative.

I saw them on the news this morning and agree they are fabulous.

My favourite is the one of Geoffrey Pattinson the first one of the link posted above.

There was a news item about them on the BBC on Friday, as Prince Charles went to see the portraits.

They are really moving pieces of art.

Prince Charles himself actually commissioned the portraits to be painted by some of Britain's top artists, as a mark of respect of these wonderful veterans who fought in the war all those years ago, and are now in their nineties. 

It's a wonderful display at the Art Gallery at Buckingham Palace. I saw it, and was so pleased I made the effort after a long journey.
