Replace or refund for a part that is faulty after 5-6 months

I sold a laptop keyboard to someone last October. I sold it as new other as it was an unused part but the box had been opened and was a few years old when it was sold.

the buyer has contacted me today to say that some of the keys are not working and how can I resolve it. I replied to say if keys are now not working then there is no fix unfortunately and he would need to buy a replacement. I don't have more of the keyboard he bought. He replied back saying that that it shouldn't have gone faulty in 5-6 months since he bought it and I should send a replacement or refund him. I want to ask if I should be doing this as the keyboard may have had liquid damage or physical damage to cause the keys not working

You don't have to do anything.   As you say, there's no way of knowing how it's been treated to get that damage.   eBay only allow 30 days for claims so the buyer can't do anything about it there.
