When same bidder makes multiple bids and wins

Thank you everybody, I think I understand now.  Item not relisted btw ? I thougt it hadnt sold because I didnt understand what had happened with it tbh and the system was offering me 'Relist item?' as an option , so I did.  Then I withdrew it when I realised.

You were given the right information by the ebay rep.  If one bidder puts in lots of bids, the item will stay at the opening bid price until someone else bids.  Then the price will change to just above the second bidders bid, if the first bidder bid higher, or to just above the first bidders maximun, if the second bidder bid higher.

 

If one person bids £1, then ups it to £100, then £300, and no-one else bids, it will sell for the starting price, which might be 99p.

 

If someone else bids £200, then the price will go to £201, not £300.
