Suspect seller is pushing up bids

I HAVE NOTICED THAT A LOT OF BIDS HAVE.private listing - bidders' identities protected IN THE BIDDER'S LIST. WHEN OTHER TIMES I SEE SOMETHING LIKE G****K OR J****F.

IT IS USUALLY ON CHINESE SHOP BIDS. I THINK THE SELLER IS MAKING SURE HE GETS AT OR ABOVE MARKET PRICE FOR THE ITEMS BY PUTTING IN FALSE BIDS.

WHY DO THE BIDDER'S LISTS SHOW DIFFERENT LISTING FORMATS.?

I DON'T TRUST THESE CHINESE BIDS.

There's nothing odd in that at all.

Sellers can set up their listing to show that it is private but on the whole you only ever see other ID's starred out as you state.

It depends on what the listing is, obviously if it's on an item that you wouldn't want to be seen buying then it's more likely and kinder to the buyer so they are not embarrassed, even though you can no longer see what other people have bought it's not impossible to find out.
