Faulty or incorrectly advertised goods returns

Why is it that when you have to return things for a refund, you only get the value of the sale back?  I understand that a seller should not have to pay for postage if you are just unhappy with something or have changed your mind... but when you buy something that isn't as advertised, or more importantly, something that just does not work or is faulty... then why does the buyer have to pay delivery postage and returns postage? totally unfair, I've been caught a few times where electrical equipment turns up and simply does not work and its costing ME money!

EBay.... you really need to sort this out!

You really should read up on the correct procedures. Ebay have nothing to sort out - it's been there all along.

First, As long as the seller is in the UK, contact him first and ask for a pre paid, tracked returns label. If he doesn't oblige, open a case in the resolution centre for "item not as described" and ebay will send you the label charged to the sellers account. Close the case 8 days later and as long as the tracking shows the seller has the item back you will get your refund. If the sller is overseas, then yes, you have to pay return postage yourself.
