How do these ebay scams work?

ge_84749_0-1710408977686.png

I was looking for new earbuds and came across these incredibly cheap Samsung Glalaxy buds 2 for ~£20. I assume these are all scams as the actual retail price is well above and even auction prices for used ones are quite a bit higher. How do these scams work? Considering they all accept returns and some sellers have listed multiple of these for some reason.

How do these ebay scams work?

The items sent will be cheap non-branded earbuds eg fakes

they may not even have Samsung printed on them but they won't be genuine

non branded earbuds can be obtained for about £15

How do these ebay scams work?

Its also known as keyword spamming, most of the items there are reportable, for inaccurate titles. If I was a gambling man all cheap Chinese rip offs.

My business was a finalist in the ebay business awards 2023.

How do these ebay scams work?

Some of these have over 100 sales but no mention of it being fake on the seller's profile. Are they faking sales to seem more legitimate?

Possibly, or the buyers just don't notice. or care.

How do these ebay scams work?

The listings probably say Earbuds *suitable for* Samsung Galaxy in the listing

Samsung Galaxy is a tablet model, not a brand of earbuds

The seller is keyword spamming - but nobody can claim they are fake "Samsung Galaxy" earbuds as they dont actually exist

How do these ebay scams work?

Yes, and they are marvel as "unbranded" rather then Galaxy Audio. I guess the lesson is to read the description carefully before buying.
