Re: Time frame to establish my presence in eBay

You are established as soon as you put items up for sale.

People will see your listings straight away.

Whether you can make money on ebay is a different matter.

Dpends what your selling.

If your competing with a million other sellers you will find it hard to make a profit.

Its best to specialise in items rarely sold and then you can mark them up.

Re: Time frame to establish my presence in eBay

Saying that is like saying you can just open a website and you are established.

Being 'established' by definition is something permanent. Having a small handful of listings on a new account that's been open for just over 2 weeks with no feedback is still in the here today, gone tomorrow phase. Many factors come in to play

Re: Time frame to establish my presence in eBay

As drop shipping is allowed on eBay, the responses on these boards should be equally courteous to all, no need to make folk feel unwelcome because of assumptions.  And, frankly, is is none of our business what other people do for a living.

I would think anyone coming to this boards for advice or simply to add to the discussion is very likely to decide against it after reading a few posts.   Which is a great pity.

Re: Time frame to establish my presence in eBay

Reading through all the posts and don`t think the OP has actually said if They have an actual physical bricks and mortar warehouse or a warehouse somewhere in China (dropshipping)

Reminds me of the old saying trying to get a straight answer from a polititian

Re: Time frame to establish my presence in eBay

Dropshipping to many seems an easy option to have a business. One problem with it is because it's so easy to start doing, a lot of people do it. Therefore it becomes a not so viable business model. No point telling someone well done, that's a great business model which will work when most of the time it won't.

The OP wanted advice but wasn't exactly honest. They said  "I got a warehouse with around 1,000 to 2,000 line items". If they want direct advice with how to build a dropship business (which as per the weekly chat with community team, it was mentioned dropshipping is only allowed if someone owns what they are selling, in most cases that wipes out dropshipping as it's usually where an item someone doesn't own sells, they then buy it and get it shipped), then honesty is the best way to get the most accurate advice.

It's right to point out that when someone, a new seller starts using fake rosette badges on their listings saying best and trusted seller when its simply not true (at the moment), it serves no purpose but to try and mislead buyers and could do more harm than good to any business startup.

Re: Time frame to establish my presence in eBay

But its not our business - certainly not out business to make guesses which have nothing to do with the question whensoeone writes something - not our business to cast aspersions on any individual's reasons for wanting to list on eBay - not our business to do anything but answer the question asked.

I do know the caveats for drop shipping, but the poster didn't ask for information on drop shipping, it is not our business to assume he doesn't know all he needs to know.  His questions were about how often to list, not drop shipping.

How was he not 'exactly honest' - whether he was or not, you and I have no way of knowing that, a lot of assumptions have been made that have nothing to do with the questions asked.  His original question was a general question and should have simply been given a general answer.  It does well to remember that we are not here to decide is someone is honest or not, we are simply a discussion board.

Re: Time frame to establish my presence in eBay

But we can make absolutley accurate assumtions that he is a business operating as a private seller. At the monent hopefully he will change that and opening a shop doeas not change that.

We can indeed, and he has had plenty of time to correct that situation since it was pointed put to him.

Also don't forget as a new eBay seller they will limit the number of items you can actually list for the first few months.

The first thing to do is upgrade your account to a business account,  otherwise you continue to break a number of consumer laws.

Re: Time frame to establish my presence in eBay

They wanted to know how to become an established business, with how long it would take.

Dropshipping or not dropshipping is an absolutely important factor when answering this question, it is completely relevant. You don't just ask someone 'when is the bus arriving?' and expect an accurate answer. There are many factors at play, which bus, where is it going from/to.

His questions were not about how often to list. It was about becoming a renowned, established seller (which indeed does depend on dropshipping or not).....AND how often to list items.

If someone really has a warehouse or not is also an important factor. If they do have/rent one as they claim, then they should give it up because nobody can sustain warehouse costs listing 13 items and having 3 sales. Is that what you would prefer? For anyone commenting to believe that and give them the honest advice of giving up the warehouse for now?

Alternatively we could use our heads and provide proper advice based on the likely scenario from what information is available. Which indeed is IF the seller is dropshipping then the competition is fierce and it will take much longer, if at all possible for them to establish themselves as a renowned seller (which is what they want).

Re: Time frame to establish my presence in eBay

Longer version of what I was asking (like getting a straight answer from a politician) - Or chat team

As a presenter once said to a politician every time I ask you a question on oranges you give an answer about apples

Please OP put us out of our missery so we may be able to help more.

Do YOU actually have your own warehouse as you claim or are you drop shipping

Not rocket science

Re: Time frame to establish my presence in eBay

Yes I do have, but you know what I am a wholesaler and I had no intentions of starting an eBay or try to do something relating to e-commerce platform but due to heavy competition in the market I am just trying out this platform as a learner and a beginner, if all goes well, I will try to continue this by myself or hire someone to do this on behalf 🙂
Just giving my try. Once again I ain't a drop shipper and if you want in wholesale you can contact me through eBay messenger

cheers 🙂

No thanks. We cut out the middleman / woman and buy direct from the brand name importers.

Never bought from wholesalers.

If you do have a bricks and mortar wharehouse in the UK with you as they key holder, much

better to have a business account with eBay so everyone can see the address and do checks .

Would have thought you already have a website as a trusted, verified and best seller of  product/s as claimed on your product images.

Not as long as it takes you to register correctly as a business seller so it seems.  Still breaking the rules...

It all depends on how much extra in promoted listings fees - over and above the standard fees - you are prepared to pay eBay to prevent your listings visibility from being manipulated.
