Managed Payments - No Thank You. But Can I Retain 'Buyer only' status?

No way am I going to give ebay my bank details. I do not have confidence in data security. I will therefore give up the ability to sell things (if necessary). I can use Gumtree instead. But will I still be able to buy off ebay?
