SD needs to be changed because I bought a label then discovered that the buyer lives a mile away so I could deliver it myself but it's not that simple It says despatched but it's not (I can't travel that fast to the locker or PO) There is a refund form but how will I get paid if there's no tracking No?
I will have to use the label so the parcel will have to go to a depot out of town then back again and will tack 2-3 days not good for the carbon footprint or whatever. I would have to cancel the order then ask the buyer to buy again but it's too much hassle.

The buyer paid for delivery. Perhaps they don't want the seller to just turn up at their door? You are trying to do something altruistic - but you have a label - you can post it, which is what the buyer has happily paid for.
If you don't post it - you won't have any tracking. You will get paid - but would be in 14 days. But that is providing the buyer doesn't open a claim for not delivered - which they would win as you'd have no evidence.
The unused label will get refunded but only if its buyer pays for the label. They would get refunded in 30 days.
If you offered free delivery - you can only get a refund if you complete the claim form within 14 days but you also have to show evidence of having used a tracked delivery service. As you won't have that, you can't claim.
My advice - I'd just post it.

Yes I did that and the buyer wouldn't know where I was from anyway. They will see the return address on my parcel though

After battling with eBay's simple delivery system over the past few weeks to sell some items, I can honestly say that Simple Delivery is going to be the nail in the coffin for eBay. I for one will no longer be selling on this platform. eBay started out as a really great platform where buyers and sellers were free to communicate, as well as choose how items should be delivered.
Now that all of that has been removed and eBay literally controlling everything, it's time to start looking at viable alternatives.
The customer services team are utterly inept and having wasted so much time on live chat trying to resolve issues, I will be looking at other ways to sell any items I wish to part ways with.
Way to go eBay - after 25 years this is one more customer looking elsewhere to sell items.

Simple Delivery will not let you use Special Delivery for anything, it's either T48 standard or T24 Express. This would be an example of using the oversized workaround (which I have documented somewhere here) to bypass simple delivery.

Simple Delivery UK - Royal Mail postal rates -
I have items to post which need to be sent as a LARGE letter because of the thickness of the item. However, the items are light, and should come into the lowest price bracket. However, LARGE LETTER up to 100g is not available, only up to 1kg. It should cost £1.55 to post, not £2.70. eBay possibly know the weight of every single item that people will ever want to sell, especially as they may make incorrect guesses about the weiught of the packaging. We need to be able to enter the actual parcel weight ourselves.

As a buyer, Evri have lost my parcel. It was something that I bought from auction, and had been waiting and watching eBay for 6 months before I found the item I wanted. Apparently, as sellers it defaults to Evri under the Simple Delivery system. In my experience and judging by others Evri is the most awful courier company that has ever existed. They have lied on the tracking details and now say it is lost somewhere. As sellers I would suggest you never use them and spread the word so this abomination of a company gets it’s just desserts. eBay after I raised a lost parcel enquiry have now put me on hold for 10 days. I think they would rather I had asked for a refund. I’m not confident about buying off eBay again.

Sorry to hear your parcel is missing - it is always very disappointing when it is an item you have waited a long time for, and can't easily be replaced. ☹️
Is the tracking information reporting it is definitely lost? If it was sent by Simple Delivery, you will automatically be refunded, but that is not much consolation when it is the item you wanted.
Some sellers won't use Evri because of their very poor reputation, but unless a seller chooses to exclude Evri from their Simple Delivery postage options, Evri is usually the default service.
In future, if it is an item you are particularly anxious to receive safely, it is worth checking with the seller before purchasing, and asking if they would be willing to temporarily exclude Evri, so you can have Royal Mail instead.

'Unfortunately, the seller didn't realise that they could change the default Evri courier.'
Yes - this sort of thing is what happens when a completely new system is introduced. There has been so much to have to 'get your head round' with Simple Delivery, it is no wonder that many sellers are still not up to speed with everything.
A seller can opt to exclude a courier, but that will apply to all their listings - the seller can't choose Evri for low value, or unbreakable items, and select Royal Mail for other items - it is either one courier, or both, with the buyer not able to choose if the seller uses both... after almost a year, I'm sure many are still finding Simple Delivery confusing & unsatisfactory.

Indeed, of course Simple Delivery is unsatisfactory! It isn't simple!!
The ironic thing is, Vinted have something very similar but have pulled it off perfectly! Seller chooses (at an account level) what couriers they want to have active, and the buyer then chooses exactly what service they want to use. Evri? Yodel? InPost? Royal Mail? Any of those is fine - even DPD is fine. And most importantly - the buyer sees the options (either pickup point collection or home delivery) and chooses which they want to use from what is available, with prices showing at checkout based upon which option is selected. Couldn't be much simpler!
eBay's Simple Delivery is so unfit for purpose, I refuse to use it. If a private seller is using it, then that is fine, as both Evri and Royal Mail are fine in my area (and the money back guarantee is there for if Evri smashes something up). But as a seller, I will not use Simple Delivery. And that IS simple.

Far be for me to defend Simple Delivery but for me as a very long term seller who had a break when simple Delivery was first introduced
it’s working absolutely fine.
That said I know my parcel sizes and only sell items such as pre worn clothes, books and CDs plus in my favour, which makes it easy for me my local very convenient and very efficient Post Office prints off labels for both Evri and Royal Mail. These are the only two couriers I use.
I’ve just had 2 of my parcels sent by Royal Mail not arrive and eBay is handling everything which as far as I’m concerned is better than me having to submit the claim.
As to Vinted, which I moved to when on my break from here, the jury is definitely out. For me it works in exactly the same way for the most part, and as of yet I’ve had nothing go missing or any requests for refunds but anyone who thinks it’s the better platform you’d do well to take a look at the face book pages which are full of complaints about customer services and the use of impost. Plus every buyer wants a knock down price and thinks nothing of making ludicrous offers - think anything up to 60% off the asking price. Such offers can be ignored or declined but there is no way to restrict them being made. At least with eBay buy now you can choose not to receive them!

The issue I had with Evri and Companies doesn't seem to understand is that when you buy second hand, items are unique, conditions and kinds, so we don't want a refund, just the hard find item. I still couldn't find a replacement to the parcel they stole from me, I got a similar items, but the legs are terribly damaged, i can't even fix them without alter it too much, shame, I am forced to try and buy the same item again and again and resell it if it is worst or unfit to fix it, because seller couldn't notice or write the damage, I often contact them and double check, but I don't find them faulty, Evri was supposed to deliver me the good shape item...
I had a world about them open later I sued them, I got my refund but no sight of the gift and the item the seller took care for me. Shame. I didn't notice before all the evidences there to me to know before, but later best then never I say. Hopefully many people will notice this as well and get informed and avoid them, because shops and comapnies always find them properly since they are better deals for them.

That's why i can't even bid anymore, you are not supposed to see who is going to be the carrier and if you show interest when asking, suddenly seller put price up, so no worth. Plus before gave up here I made 2 purchases both of them anded in refund due to evri, since I don't want them ever to deliver me not even a tissue. They even stole the parcel from my neighbour, I should have taken it myself and given to them, they think we havd the parcel and almost fight with them, the guy told us he was going to them when pointed to the right door, it was a lie, I should have known. They sorted out but I am tired of the unpleasent and avoidable situation cause by them, at least if shops use them you can still ask them to send by someone else.

Sometimes it is always Evri. I get this issues here and elsewhere, the region is not out of reach of some services, yet the automatic system postage refuse to make me use the one i want, I contacted both cs and i was told it is as it is. Even when seller screenshotted me about the changes we couldn't work out why, I had to look for them where there is no SD or such systems so they could post it freely.
