Just tried opening the app on my android phone and get the message "this version is no longer supported. Please update to the latest version". Pressing the "update" goes to Google play but the only options are "Uninstall" or "Open" - no option to update. Pressing "Cancel" closes the app.
I suspect they pushed a new version of the app to deal with the changes introduced overnight but something has gone wrong somewhere.
Anyone else got this issue?

I have the same problem I can access it from my computer but not my phone

I use the phone app because my main computer, this one is upstairs and I have a disability which means I only go upstairs to sleep as I need assistance. I use my home shopping and eBay for everything.

In an emergency if you injury uninstall the app and login through a browser or will get you going.
I will have to update my phone to meet the new criteria.

Well thanks for stating the obvious.
As a very regular user of Ebay for buying and selling I prefer to use my tablet for security reasons therefore I am left with NO Ebay.

Message repeated from earlier:
Please read through the posts on this thread. We have all had these problems. There is a lot of repetition now.
What it boils down to is, if you have Android 9 or below the app won't update. I know more about brain surgery than Apple devices. I'm pretty sure there are technical experts that know about both platforms.
It is still possible to access eBay via a browser, Mobile or desktop.
I have looked around the Internet and there are 1000s and 1000s of people trying in vain to update this app. I dread to think how many hours have been wasted. 3-4 hours of mine included.

Same for me,
Were a business in a small workshop. Uninstalled app and tried to install again multiple times no luck
So frustrating. Has anyone solved the puzzle yet?

Just when I'm starting to get my head around no more cash on collection, payment holds, the BPF (the implementation of which is looking to be cack-handed and inconsistent, judging by recent threads) and the dreaded Simple Delivery, along comes yet another devastating change.
I'm in the same boat as many others here - cannot upgrade my phone to Android 10, but understandably unwilling to buy a new one just for the sake of one app.
I'm aware that the app lacks the full functionality of the website (maybe this has been addressed with the new version?), but it is - or, rather, was - very useful for notifications, e.g. letting me know that an auction I'd forgotten about was about to end (it was always "in 14 minutes" - what an odd time, why not a round quarter of an hour?).
Getting these notifications was useful for 'eBaying' when on the move or otherwise not in front of my laptop. Yes, those notifications are also sent to my email inbox and to eBay Messages, but I don't know that they're there until I read my emails or log in to eBay. App notifications easily win out in terms of immediacy and convenience.
Until I get a new phone for other reasons - not just so I can have the eBay app - I simply won't receive those useful notifications any more. The overall result will be that I won't bid on as many auctions (mainly due to not being able to keep track of them so easily) , and will make fewer purchases or lose out to other buyers (e.g. not knowing until I check my emails/eBay Messages that I've received an offer for something in my watch list).
It could just be me getting older and grumpier, but most things about eBay just anger me now, whereas I used to hold a much more favourable view of the platform. The many changes, the poor communication (if any) about them, the lack of transparency, the infuriating corporate doublespeak, the seldom-helpful Weekly Chat, the beyond-abysmal customer service (unless, by many accounts, you're lucky enough to get through to Dublin CS, which I've never been), the frequent site issues, the requirement to constantly log back in to my account with verification... and now this.
Trying to come up with a pithy one-liner to end on, but I'm too wound up!

What operating system is your phone or device on? If its Android 9 or less - that is the issue - it won't work.
Your only options are...
- See if you can upgrade your operating system to at least Android 10
- get a new device
- Use ebay within your Internet Browser of choice (generally, on an android phone, this will be Chrome)

My Android phone has a choice of Chrome or Samsung Internet. I chose Chrome as I use it on my laptop.
Thank you for a great post, which sums things up nicely. We can hope for one other option, that eBay might issue a patch, as there are 1000s of people up the creek without a paddle.

You have company in your anger.
Ebay is a fantastic example of the 'enshi**ification' of all of life's necessary *and* frivolous services.

According to Google AI, the Nokia 6 can upgrade to Android 9, which is below the minimum for the new app to run. Your options are to get a new phone or use the eBay website on a mobile or computer. We can but hope eBay will issue a solution for this problem that 1000s of people are experiencing.

Hi
I have the problem that I cant update the Ebay App on my I-pad OS 15.8.3 . when I click the update window the screen goes into an Ebay shop window and calls for an update, so its sending me around in circles and driving me nuts. Please help

Yes. I contacted ebay and they confirmed this.
I'm not confident at all that they will rectify .
When I contacted the agent about it they were quick to tell me that they were aware of the issue so that tells me they have had a lot of calls about it!
