Scam???

Hello,

Does ebay offer this level of turn key services for a seller?  I am suspicious of this seller.

"Right now I'm back in Billings, Montana with my parents, after the divorce. The tractor is here at eBay with all the paperwork and the transaction will be done through them. eBay will handle the shipping,the paper exchange and the payment.Shipping is already paid and you will have 5 days to test-drive and inspect it before I receive any money. If you are decided to buy it, please reply with your full name,a delivery address and a phone #. I will forward your info to eBay and they will contact you with all the info on how to buy it."

And quite rightly so. It's a very old, but very effective scam, there is no tractor, no ebay protection for motor vehicles and no escrow scheme.

The account "selling" the tractor has been hacked. If you click on See Sellers Other Items you may find they have many many cars/tractors/boats etc etc for sale.

Report the listing to eBay, do not have any further contract with the scammer

These are the UK boards and 'scam' is correct but you are in USA - why not ask on your own boards where some matters might be different?

I have no understanding how my post with to a UK board. I was not given any option about boards being related to a specific country. Thanks for your reply.

Scam ... Scam alert ...Beware when seeking to buy any Vehicle on eBay as there are many Scams about ... Promises abound and the Vehicles usually do not exist ... Out of office / overseas / redirections to another email address / requests for deposits / payments by Bank Transfers / eBay Escrow payment holds /trials/ offers of refunds if not satisfied within xx days / delivery to your address etc. are the alarm signals for the start of a Scam.

Only if you can view the vehicle and thoroughly examine for defects, check documentation/ HPI etc. should you then pay Cash on Collection (or arrange Secure Bank payment method).    You are not required to use PayPal for Vehicle purchases as there is No Buyer Protection offered by either eBay or PayPal.
