How can I file a report, it asks for an item number that has not closed, but it is correct?

Every time I try to file a report, for a different reason every time, I am unable to do so as I get the error message:

Please provide the correct information in the highlighted fields.
Please enter a valid item number for a listing that has not ended.

But there is no highlighted field, and the item number is correct.

What sort of report are you trying to file? It is rarely necessary to enter an item number as most things start from the item and the number is already known, so does not need to be entered.

I realise that, the number is pre-filled and cannot be changed. That is why I am asking for a solution!

you need to use a different browser or try clearing cookies then use the report link

Have tried that, and it makes no difference.
