"For a few hours yesterday, some of our eBay users around the world experienced issues when visiting our site and contacting customer service. As of 6:45 PM BST yesterday, the vast majority of site functionality had been restored.
We never want our customers to experience any issues. But when things don't go as planned, like today, we work to make it right for our customers. We sincerely apologize for any impact this may have caused. In the next day or two, eBay teams will be in touch directly with affected sellers to provide them with additional information.
Regards,
The eBay.co.uk Team "

Couldn't get in for several hours yesterday to search or bid, thanks to yet another outage over a lot of England and part of Europe.
These outages must be very annoying for sellers who might have got a lot more bids in the last few minutes. I suppose that they still have to fulfil their 'contract' and send items won for low prices?? I would hope that they could refuse when half the country can't access ebay, or that they get some compensation. It could be disasterous for a high price item like a vehicle. Looks like a huge chunk of GB was unable to get into ebay yesterday.

It was a REAL DRAG............in the end, I took to using My Tablet.......different operating system seemed to work.

Thanks to Ebay I have to "honour" some sales that would have gotten a much higher price. This is not wishful thinking on my part, but based on previous sales on similar items. If I cancel the sales I will end up with cases being opened against me. I'm not too happy, but I don't think anyone at ebay cares.

That's bad luck harry
I have been wondering about sellers with items finishing yesterday. I tried to get in to bid for some small things I sometimes go for on a Sunday from the same seller and the price usually increases dramatically in the last few minutes. I expect that she lost out yesterday given that so many people couldn't get into ebay.

Does anybody really believe this poor excuse of an explanation/apology from eBay, especially the piece that I highlighted in red ink? This is yet another case of eBay telling us what they think we want to hear, because they know that there are going to be a lot of aggravated customers as a result of this latest cockup. eBay really need to stop turning a blind eye to the fact that this site is seriously flawed and have a serious look into the question as to why on Earth this site is so unstable that it crashes on a regular basis, not to mention the fact that its anti-hacking security systems are pathetically weak! This level of performance is simply not good enough - if eBay were evaluated in the same way that eBay evaluate sellers on this site they'd have so many defects on their own account that they'd no longer be allowed to continue trading!

Agreed.........but that's what you get with these faceless Internet companies, whose head office is registered in some port of convenience; so you have no recourse and they remain untouchable. This is the modern day face of Internet trading ( unless, of course, they are the Internet trading arm of recognised high street companies ).

It's rather strange isn't it, that Moderators can pounce, edit, or pronounce judgement quite quickly on things written against ebay... but... remain conspicuously silent when a glaring anomaly such as Harry's pronouncement declares, or announces.?
As a Seller, Harry has a duty of care to her paying Customers, and ebay will enforce it to the hilt.
It's a pity that as all Sellers, are paying Customer of ebay, ebay does not do the same for it's customers who have lost out, because of it's problems.

There must have been loads of sellers in my position. I lost about £50 to £75 on those few sales. To me that is quite a lot of money.
Selling has become hard enough for the smaller sellers without this kind of thing happening. But when does anyone at ebay listen to them. I feel we should be able to cancel such sales and ebay taking the full responsibility.
Recently someone opened a case against me. Didn't bother to message me first with the problem, even though I always ask buyers to do so (wasting my time obviously with adding that to each listing). Immediately my paypal account was frozen. The buyer said something was missing from an item. It wasn't, but they had thrown it away with the packing. After I contacted them, as I was 100% sure I had packed it and told them to look again, they found it. Ebay is quick enough in those cases. Buyers could be lying through their teeth and they would still have ebay backing them up.
I'm getting pretty fed up with this kind of stuff.

It lasted just long enough for me to relist 74 items. Then I tried to sell an item and that was when everything went haywire. System kept telling me I was using the wrong password. Told to reset password - all rubbish of course. Took two and a half hours to speak to a rep who it was obvious English wasn't her first language - why bother employ those people in the first place? After further exchanges, (in which I really had to really bite my tongue), was told new password details would be sent through to my external email address. Managed to get into payPal via a different system and, still not knowing whether it was eBay or my computer about to close up on me, drew out every penny from payPal less three pence - I couldn't take a chance!
That's why there have been so many free weekends - eBay are "sscch - you know what" scared of losing us. I daren't leave more than $300,000 in my PayPal account ...
