It's a long and convoluted story but bear with me.
I wanted a Tablet PC that was also a Mobile phone but the screen had to be under 7" measured diagonally across the screen.
After searching all over town and on-line we found just what I waned in a *3* shop. It's a Samsung Galaxy Mega with a 6.3" screen. Perfect.
It wasn't cheap but I ordered one anyway. It arrived quite soon and was even better in real life than in the brochures. The only bad news was that the SIM card that came with it had a naff number which wasn't easy to remember at all. Not being faint-hearted, I searched eBay for an easy number and found one that was ideal. Not cheap at £20 but if you want a good number, you need to pay.
It duly arrived but guess what. Being a complete Dummy where this kind of stuff is concerned, I'd bought the wrong kind of SIM card. This one was oversized for the slot in the Tablet/phone. We had no other *3* phones so, in effect, this card was useless but, using my bestest, most polite keyboard skills I e-mailed the seller and asked for any advice that he may be able to offer. The fact that I had bought the wrong sized SIM card wasn't the seller's fault so he was blameless and no way could I expect a refund. Anyway, he politely explained that there was nothing that he could do but that one option open to me was to take the phone and SIM card down to a Phone shop in town to see if they had a gizmo that would cut the SIM card down to the right size. So off I trotted to Carphone Warehouse and asked the question. "No problem." says the guy taking my card and putting it inside a doofah. One quick snip and the job was done. He put the SIM card back into my phone and dailed the number from his own phone and then did the reverse to make sure that the SIM and phone worked.
I was delighted so I said to the bloke, "Brilliant job. How much do I owe you?" ...... (Get your feathers handy)
"No charge for that." ...... OK, It may not be much of a story but it just goes to show that not all people and/or companies are out to grab every penny that they can.

My eyes glazed over after "It's a long and convoluted story"

"One quick snip and the job was done."
I had a vaguely similar SIM card experience two or three years ago when I switched mobile phone networks. The 'customer service agent' at the new network told me that it was impossible to copy all my stored phone numbers from my old phone to the new one, except by entering each one by hand.
This seemed unlikely to be true so I went into the nearest phone shop where a spotty geek did the job for me in a couple of minutes, again refusing any payment.
Sadly, I had decided to switch from Orange because of their poor customer service, to T-Mobile. A few months after I had switched, the two companies merged. They now call themselves EE, probably having listened to a few Lancashire folk expressing surprise.

Many years ago I had a quick..'snip'... After a few days the whole 'snipped' area was bruised black and blue and swollen double. in size
So I went to the doctors and showed him...
He said " What do you want me to do'?
I said.. " Can you get rid of the bruising..... but keep the swelling...
