What is this world coming to

Just to get it off my chest, as one does!

Normally 11pm comes around and as soon as my head hits the pillow thats it, I am out like a light but, last night this wasn't the case.

Having the sky news app on my phone to keep me up to date, I actually regretted having it yesterday because of the notification I received about the the poor 11 year old in Crete. This poor little boy was enjoying a family holiday from Russia, went out to look for his phone and laptop and was brutally attacked, stabbed at least 20 times in his back, chest and hands.

Being a mum of an 11 year old myself, I couldn't help but feel very upset at the thought of this happening to my son and the whole thing kept me awake.

I recently heard a quote on bbc news a number of weeks ago claiming that English mothers are the worst in the world for wrapping their children in cotton wool and being over protective. I was angry at this comment, maybe the woman quoting this isn't a mother, maybe she isn't aware of what happens to young children in the UK, whatever her reason I was offended by it, because us mothers who are extra careful (I am one of them) have no choice, we are aware of the possibilities and as sad as it is, have to pollute our little ones minds to an extent with the possibilities of what could happen to them, to keep them safe.

Something is seriously wrong, crime towards children is rising and there needs to be a serious crack down to deter these animals from taking innocent children and doing what the hell they like with them.

As a mother and a qualified CCTV operator and being aware of the things that happen involving children, I want something done but, what should be done to prevent our children being taken, getting hurt?

I feel for the 11 year old Russian boy in crete and I hope and pray he pulls through, bless him.

These animals who commit these horrific crimes must know they are not going to get away with it so the big question is "why", why do they do it.

Bring back hanging is my choice of punishment.

It appears there isn't any news regarding how the little fella is.

He looks so small, how on earth could he have ever defended himself:-(

I too understand your pain and your grief over the state of this world flower pot, how terrible for that little boy and his family.

Don't dispare though, this wickedness will soon be put to and end. You can rest assured that that Jehovah God will not allow these terrible atrocities befalling any one  for much longer, that he is, even now working to rid our world of them and restore life in this world to one of peace and security for everyone who longs for it.:-x

I fully respect everyone has different beliefs but it doesn't matter how much we believe in god or jesus it wont help these little ones from being targets to these monsters.

God or jesus have no power over them at all in my opinion but the government have the power to dish out much much much tougher sentencing to deter the worst happening to our children and something definitely must be done, its getting totally out of control.

I have received an email from Sky news correspondent and as yet there is no news on the 11 year old other than he still remains in a critical condition, what a fighter.

It's not going to happen , there will always be evil people that will harm children , no matter what we believe , or how distressing it is .

But the Victorians didn't talk about it. It wasn't in the newspapers. Thus it passed unremarked.

Unlike these modern days, when so many mothers are qualified CCTV operators.

irrespective of whether child abduction, abuse, sex offenders who's crimes are directed at children, child murderers crimes are on the rise or not, theres a problem thats needs a great deal of attention to protect out children

Some people, no names, no pack drill, believe that kids can be left to do as they please and no harm will become them because an imaginary bloke with a beard is watching over them.

To be honest, I'd rather parents and Police watched over them first.

That seems to imply a desirable link between motherhood and video surveillance cameras.
