This IPL cricket malarkey is doing my head in.

Why is that, Stevie?

I'll tell you.

In England, let's imagine that you have a player called Fred Smith. On the back of his shirt is written "Smith", the commentators call him "Smith" and he is down as "Smith" on the score sheet. ..... No problems and everybody knows who's who.

But I'm watching the IPL cricket match between Pune and Mumbai where there are a lot of Indian players on both sides. So in this situation, let's say there is a player called Musthalick Bahinda (not a real player). On the back of his shirt you'll see "Draminda" and the commentators call him "Srinchari" and he's on the score sheet as Musthalick. It's confusing enough but it would be a lot clearer if the commentators used the same name as that written on the back of the player's shirt.
