The Summer Solstice?

OK, so this morning was the Summer Solstice and today is supposed to be the longest day of the year?

But as we approach and leave the Solstice, won't the days on either side be more or less the same length?

Just wondering........?

I saw a report that in some places in the UK it was actually colder at the Summer solstice than at the Winter solstice. We have strange weather in the UK and many abroad wonder why the British are always talking about the weather?
