Has anyone any idea what this flower is? The image of the tree is a bit blurred because the wind was blowing it around. Whatever the tree species is, is a bit obscured because it's poking out between several others. It's in an overgrown hedge down the lane and in 19 years I've never seen a flower there before. It's about 15 feet up.

Looks like a climbing rose if you sy it is high up.

Yes I say it's a Hybrid tea rose 'Marco Polo'.

Thank you for the replies. However, it's high up, yes, but the rest of the bush/tree isn't a climber, it's not "twisted" around anything else and it doesn't appear to have any spikes/thorns.

They dont climb by twisting. The leaves look rose like. Check out marco polo like the other person said and work from that. Not all roses have thorns either.

Yes, the leaves do look rose-like and the flower also looks like rose, that was my first thought but because it's so high and in amongst other things like Elder, I didn't think it could be a rose. Having looked at the Marco Polo Rose, it's not the same as that.

Climing roses can go higher but there are so many ,giving would be sort of pointless.
google search which might help climbing rose no thorns double yellow

I just asked my gardener hubby.
He said it's definitely a rambling rose, which can grow very high.

I'll have to brave the nettles and try and get close to it. there was a hedge behind some houses but they've left it to grow really high in to trees. They never cut the nettles, brambles and weeds along the lane and the nettles are four feet high!

I met a neighbour from down the lane and she came and had a look at it. She'd never see it flower before either. She said it's definitely a Rose but she said it was a rambling Rose. Hmmmm? Aren't they supposed to flower prolifically?
Anyway, it's struggling to grow between overgrown Privet, Laurel, Elder and some sort of "Fir" all of which are higher than it is. I dunno what it's like on the other side of the hedge.
