Really, really hating the new-look ebay

The title says it all 😞

I don't like the new 'newly listed' device - it's *much* harder to see (on my screen anyway, with my middle-aged eyes) that the bright yellow flash.

I don't like the larger fonts - it makes the site look like something for 5 year olds

But those I could live with

The worst thing is the loss of the 'old' search box. The one which appeared in the top bar of item pages. (not the only one which is left now - which I never use)

What's good about the old one is that it retained text - so saved everything I regularly look for so I didn't forget it. That doesn't happen (whether by ebay or browser instruction I don't know)

Yes I could use 'saved searches', but when you regularly look for things which have hundreds of items added each day, it's really not helpful (as you only get notified about 9 new items in the emails sent)

The net result will be that I buy a lot less through ebay - because I will simply forget.

At the moment I type 'a' into the box and it lists my 23 searches that begin with 'a'. That functionality is gone. Can I have it back please?

Re: Really, really hating the new-look ebay

I agree completely, searching for multiple items in various categories within a designated mileage distance has now become a chore, I now no longer browse for fun, I will do the minimum necessary looking for items I require then turn off. Such a shame if it ain't broke don't fix it.

I also agree, I have never bothered with the community section of ebay but these changes have forced me to voice my opinion. If its not broken don't fix it, springs to mind.

...and the pop-ups which get in the way of just searching; you can't move for pop-ups which add nothing to intelligent browsing. Why have them? "because you can.."

+ problem 1: Can't delete items from watch list. Nothing happens.
+ problem 2: bad site security certificate for login page: everything gets listed as text down the left hand side of the screen.

Browsing has become a chore.

Re: Really, really hating the new-look ebay

I must be the exception to the rule as I'm still using Classic View, despite eBay trying to force users to use the new "improved" layout of the site.  When they first tried to switch me over to their new "improved" version I hated the look of it straightaway and immediately contacted eBay and told them to switch my account back over to Classic View, otherwise I'd be closing my account for good.  My account was subsequently switched back to Classic View and no further attempts have been made to force the new layout upon me.  Sometimes it just goes to show that if you really want something badly enough then you have to be prepared to stand your ground and refuse to back down when you're trying to get what you want.  This would appear to be especially true where eBay's badly thought out changes to users' accounts are concerned, so if you're really that unhappy with the latest round of changes then start breathing down eBay's neck and insist that they reinstate your account to how it  used to be before they ruined it.  It worked for me, so I don't see why it wouldn't work for other people.

In the event that you decide to take this advice but end up getting told something such along the lines of "Classic View has now been discontinued" then don't believe them - it's just a lame excuse to try to avoid allowing you to use the old version of the site, as they want to switch more and more people over to using their new "improved" version.  If it wasn't possible to still run Classic View on eBay then I suppose my account would no longer be working by now, so the fact that it is still working in Classic View is proof enough that it is definitely still possible to run Classic View for users who dislike the new "improved" version and would rather have the old version instead.
