The Investigatory Powers Act or "Snoopers Charter" has been passed this week by the UK government.
The new surveillance law requires web and phone companies in the UK to store everyone’s web browsing histories for 12 months and give the police, security services and official agencies unprecedented access to the data.
Please sign the petition at the following link to show your opposition to the act.

One of the reasons why I was agaist Brexit, I suspect there will be similar cases in the future of legislation that would have been against EU Regs..

Did you miss this bit?
EU judges said communications data could only be retained if it was used to fight serious crime.

Brilliant result in the EU court
even funnier because it was David Davis the Brexit Minister behind taking the case to the EU Court
This Protects You - as the ruling said, such powers must only be available to fight serious crime/Terrorism -
This Government want to spy on Your whole life, especially Your financial one, that why they wanted these Powers.
----------------------
Why Do people think you must have something to hide, if you encrypt your Data and your mobile phone
It is my Business - NO ONE ELSE'S including the Police or Government to keep or spy on what I'm doing or any of my Data
If anyone is suspected of criminal behaviour of any type, it is quite easy to get a warrant to spy on those people
Leave the rest of the population alone, we are meant to live in a free country.
REMEMBER
When you store any of Your Data in any 'Cloud system' - it is no longer Your Data - read the small print

Remember I protect/encrypt my data to thwart hacking of my Data, by scammers/thieves,
be it on my Blackberry or PC
stopping snooping by anyone else is a bonus

No I didn't miss it. What puzzles me is how they are going to decide who is a 'person of interest' without keeping everyone's records.

I see where you are coming from though isn't it the difference between having enough to convince a judge to issue a warrant to tap a phone and simply listening in to calls to see if anything turns up?
The shambles and injustices of Operation Ore should be enough to show the damage badly carried out and poorly supervised fishing operations can do.
