That's great news petal, especially since older female in Scotland at the Loch of the Lowes didn't produce viable eggs this year although she is still incubating in vain. Last time the eggs failed to hatch in 2011 she sat on the eggs for 70 days
Here's the link to the livecam for the Dyfi Ospreys, and there is a video of the chick hatching in the blog on that site.

The second one should hatch in a few days.

I don't like the soppy habit of giving human names to wild animals, but there is an amusing - albeit unprintable - story about how the first Dyfi female Osprey (Nora) was given her name.

Blinking Nora!
Still, the wildlife trusts who have the webcams and blogs have to call them something so they may as well name them rather than call them a number.
Mum is feeding the chick fish now on the webcam - great view into the nest.

I've heard that the RSPB has withdrawn their financial support to the group that protects these birds at Porthmadog - anyone know if that is correct? My wife goes to see them every year with her school.
