Michael Fish ‘relaxed’ ahead of Cornwall fishing trip

Semi-retired weather forecaster Michael Fish is preparing to ‘let his hair down’ over the next few days by heading to the Cornish Coast with family and friends on a three-day mackerel fishing trip.

Fish, who has chartered a small fishing boat that he plans set sail from Falmouth Marina on Sunday afternoon, is ‘determined to relax’ after a busy year.

‘I haven’t had a break in what feels like forever’, said Fish today. ‘The wife and I did head to Dubai back in 2011, but we just spent most of the two-weeks arguing. Yes I accidentally packed thermal gloves, skiis and a kagool, but that doesn’t mean I should get an earful for a fortnight. Women’.

When quizzed about recent meteorological reports that suggests the UK, in particular the far south west coast, is likely to experience ‘a bit of weather’ over the coming days, Fish said: ‘Rubbish. At the very worst some people in exposed areas may want to consider fastening down any small to medium sized garden ornaments they may have, but even that might be considered over-cautious.

‘And don’t start throwing that whole 1987 incident in my face; It was an oversight, that’s all. Nobody shouts at a world class pianist just because he hits a bum note once in twenty-five years. I had a cold and I wasn’t thinking straight’.

He continued, ‘I’m not completely stupid, I understand that there will be a brisk breeze and a few showers, so I’ve made sure to pack plenty of Ambre Solaire and wicker sun hats. In my professional opinion, I firmly believe that absolutely nothing bad is going to happen. I’ll see you all next week.’
