Member to member support???

Isn't the title of that forum wrong? On there, only "mentors" are allowed to reply so shouldn't it be called "Member to Mentor support"?

I see some posts have no reply with no way for a "normal member" to reply or to correct a wrong post.

For instance, I saw "Used E-bikes are not allowed on ebay" so when I entered "Used E-bike" in to the search it came up with 50 results with no way for me to say that on that thread.

Just wondering, that's all 🤔

Re: Member to member support???

Whilst you're correct in suggesting that the title of the Forum should have the more accurate label of "Member-to-Mentor" you are incorrect in stating that there is 'no way for a "normal member" to reply or correct a wrong post'.

Click on the username of the person to whom you wish to reply then click on 'Send a message'. Job done...

Re: Member to member support???

But a PM is exactly that, private. It's the rest of the population that needs informing about a"wrong" post?

Re: Member to member support???

Hi Cee Dee,

If it's the post I saw, the mentor who replied said ebikes could only be sold by business sellers, the OP was not a BS and so had his listing removed.

Unless it was a different post?

Re: Member to member support???

The OP was posting about not being able to reply to the posts on M2M boards unless they were the opening poster.

Sending a PM doesn't change things.

For instance.I know of at least 2 mentors who have posted fairly regularly that the MBG is on "EVERY" listing when it clearly isn't.

Re: Member to member support???

Sorry, but how do you get from "I see some posts have no reply with no way for a "normal member" to reply" to "The OP was posting about not being able to reply to the posts on M2M boards unless they were the opening poster"? I see no correlation between those two statements.

Perhaps the solution would be for the OP to apply to become a Mentor?

Re: Member to member support???

I would have drawn the same conclusion. Because it’s relatively clear that is what they are talking about.

I’ve certainly seen responses from mentors in that forum that are incorrect to what the OP was talking about. Often macro responses that are a catch all response.

i have no desire to register to be a mentor. Personally i just ignore posts in that forum.

Re: Member to member support???

If a "normal" member posts on that forum, they're able to reply to a mentor's response because they're the OP but other "normal" members can't. Some post's on M 2 M have had no reply so the mentors either don't have particular knowledge of the subject or they don't "want" to reply?? However, other members might be able to relate to the OP's problem but can't reply there. Why not? M 2 M should be just that surely?

Just because you can find examples of something being listed on ebay does not mean ebay allows it.  Many policy/rule breaking listings can be found on the site.

I think the blurb under the 'member to member' heading makes it clear that it is mentors that will reply, and given that mentors are also members (and not ebay employees), I don't think the title is misleading.   We also never asked to be singled out with a special name and I for one would rather not have it.

If you feel that a mentor has given incorrect information,  why not send them a DM?  I have had that happen to me when my information has been out of date and I have corrected my post.

Just so I know to post correctly,  which listings do not have the MBG written  on listings, aside from Classified ads,   or is that what you're referring too ?  Which of course is correct,  or have you spotted other listings/categories?

100% the title is misleading. It has been brought up before, and should have been changed a long time ago, but I assume it has repercussions in doing so, so it has remained.

The blurb does not show when you start a new conversation and pick that forum from the drop-down list (and it is right at the top). Again, this was brought up before as well.

I have sent a PM to numerous posters over time who have posted in that forum and either did not get a response, or got a poor or incorrect response. Most of them confirm they didn’t realise normal members couldn’t reply there.

But this is all a waste of time really. It won’t be changed. This post will eventually be deleted. And this will probably be brought up again in the future, in a endless loop.

Re: Member to member support???

I despair at the way the site is performing now. I see (on CPD) a chap's had a pickle fork removed as a bladed article when there's others on the site?

Many years back I had a Victorian truncheon removed when there were many others on the site. I've just tried "truncheon" in the search and over 460 came up!! What  gives?

Re: Member to member support???

Agreed, and as I mentioned in another topic, policy violations for bladed items seem to be spiralling out of control now, with no end in sight.
But those comments are probably best kept for those topics, as they don’t really relate to this one.
