Lost luggage auction - worth exploring??

British Airways auction off their lost property suitcases once a week.  Basicly you take a chance on what's inside the case.

Anybody tried it?  Did they come home with a mink stole or smelly underwear?

Plenty out there would rather have the dirty underwear than the mink stole 😉

They all go through the Xray first so anything worth any money will have been half inched! 😉

Re: Lost luggage auction - worth exploring??

the local auction house near to where we live does a similar thing with lost property from our local airport and we have bought several lots over the years and made a lot of money at car boots with the stuff.so it depends what you are hoping to do with stuff.:-)

Re: Lost luggage auction - worth exploring??

Depends what we intend to do with the contents?  Well, I'm a perfect fourteen, but I don't think my other half would be too impressed if I went down the road in a ra-ra skirt :^O  Suitcases from Gatwick or Luton aren't worth 9d because all they're liable to contain are casual holiday clothes back from Benidorm whereas from LAP, you've got visitors coming in from the Far East or Canada.  I wouldn't wear any of the stuff myself, I'd only be interested in selling it on.  The trouble is, half the good stuff has already been taken.
