There’s also a lack of hard conventional evidence to prove that it’s more effective and kinder than conventional radiotherapy.
Who could benefit? Doctors think that around one per cent of patients treated radiotherapy in the UK could be suitable for proton therapy. This would mostly be children with various types of cancer including brain tumours, as well as adults with brain tumours, head and neck cancers, spinal tumours and sarcomas. In addition, people with more common types of cancers in tricky locations of the body that would be difficult to treat with conventional radiotherapy might also benefit. As the UK’s proton therapy centres come to fruition over the next five years, there’s still a vital need to continue gathering and analysing research data from patients receiving the treatment around the world, so doctors can figure out the most suitable candidates for treatment and the best way to use it. Overall, we’re very happy to hear that the government is investing in cutting-edge techniques like proton therapy – although, of course, this shouldn’t be at the expense of conventional radiotherapy, which still saves thousands of lives. With the right investment in technology and people, the UK’s radiotherapy services could be among the best in the world. We will continue to keep pushing the government to make sure this happens and even more lives can be saved.

The parents of Ashya King will face no further action and should be reunited with their son, say prosecutors. The Crown Prosecution Service has withdrawn a European arrest warrant enabling Spanish police to detain Brett and Naghemeh King. Prime Minister David Cameron welcomed the moves to reunite the family. Mr and Mrs King were arrested in Spain on Saturday, after taking their son out of hospital in Southampton last week against medical advice. A CPS spokesman said it had "urgently reviewed the case" and found "insufficient evidence for a realistic prospect of conviction for any criminal offence". "We have therefore decided to stop the criminal proceedings," he added. In a tweet, Mr Cameron said: "I welcome the prosecution against #AshyaKing's parents being dropped. "It's important this little boy gets treatment & the love of his family."

I can't be the only person, who doesn't believe a word that comes out of the parents mouths ?
More concerned with their Lawyers and suing the Hospital authority, Police etc, that they did a massive detour when released from jail, to visit their lawyer, instead of rushing to see their Kid
More concerned with the Media that they held a news conference and untold one to one interviews with various media organisations, before visiting Him

nell newman, Peterborough, United Kingdom, 54 minutes ago.......................... Dr Peter Wilson Southampton NHS said yesterday to Sky News that they knew nothing about the family's wish to take Ashya to the Prague Clinic. ...............The Prague Clinic has issued a statement in response saying that they contacted Southampton NHS on 21st August to ask for Ashya's records as Ashya's father had requested that they assess him. According to Prague Clinic Southampton NHS blocked their request............... Southampton only sent those records in the last day or so after pressure from UK Secretary of State for Health!!............. Why is Southampton NHS lying?! I do hope the media is going to follow this up and make Southampton answer ! .........................................Read more: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2740408/Ashya-Kings-brother-Danny-finally-allowed-visit-hosp...

This is where socialism has got us. You have to get permission from the High Court if you dare to disobey the Nationalised Death Service.
