You know how sometimes you can have a post removed by Liveworld because it breaks one of the rules and how, 9 times out of 10 it has been reported to LW in the first place by another poster or lurker? Well, we know that it can be annoying but the truth is that there is no way of knowing who pressed the "report" button. We can think that we know who did it but that's not the same as knowing.
But here's a strange one.
Sometime during this afternoon or early evening I got a message from LW telling me that I had broken a rule and so my post had been removed. I've been away from the PC for a while and I only saw this message at about 8:30 pm. So straight away I went to the thread in question and my post was still there. I did a refresh just to make sure but there it was. What's going on here?
So I went back to my mail and found another e-mail from LW saying that they had reviewed the post in question, decided that it hadn't broken the rules after all and re-instated it.
Why this post?
Well, it seems that as well as having posts reported anonymously, we now also seem to have anonymous requests sent to LW to confirm that a post actually does break the rules.
Nice one.

It's a strange one Stevie.
At least you know which post they are talking about - I got the same email as the second one you got but not the first email saying I'd broken the rules - so I don't have any idea what I'm supposed to have done.
All very weird, especially as the second email includes the following, "As a follow up we would like to take this opportunity to invite you to read our Board Usage Policy located here: http://pages.ebay.co.uk/help/policies/everyone-boards.html to ensure you are familiar with our guidelines"
How can reading that help me avoid the same problem when I don't even know which post was the "culprit" in the first place 😮

The only suggestion I can offer is this scenario - NOTE - just a guess - if someone is registering new IDs to get around a sanction on the boards, and they report posts, which are initially removed, but then others report the reporter for registering a new ID when they should not, then LW are reviewing the posts the sanctioned person has reported and are realising the posts were reported maliciously.
It's a guess only.

Please remember that one should never, ever discuss the intimate habits of nesting birds, aardvarks, and goldfish - especially goldfish...

I remember a time when there was no report button and the thin skinned censors did not ruin the forum for everyone else with PC.
That is in large part why I hardly ever get back over to the RT anymore.
