I was browsing the interweb recently and came across a Facebook page entitled "I hate Foamers."
The mission statement reads: "Join the cause to help STOP the spread of foamers!!!"
Question being, what is it about "foamers" that seems to irk people so much? And what would stopping the "spread of foamers" actually achieve?

I guess one man's 'foamer' is another man's passionate advocate.
I've seen plenty of foaming Scots in the last couple of weeks, those who think that Braveheart is a documentary therefore the English should pay for them to have free prescriptions, free old-age care and free university tuition.

Well, a "foamer" was originally used to describe a "railfan" (i.e Trainspotter). This is because they are often observed to become over-excited (or start 'foaming' at the mouth) when a train became visible - Exemplified rather splendidly by this 'foamer' - who I understand is no relation to Tom Hanks whatsoever >

However, in recent years some commentators have noted that trains are not the only stimuli to trigger the 'foaming' phenomena. Similar outbursts of 'foaming' have often been observed when a copy of the DAILY MAIL is left in a golf or bowls club. Usually the foam factor can be predicated depending on the front page headline. Stories slanted towards a "illegel immigints cumming here for are benififts" (sic) are guaranteed a maximum foam output, whereas quotes from the Tax d̶o̶d̶g̶e̶r̶s̶ payers Alliance tend to produce sporadic dribbles.

Maybe they do, maybe they don't. Everyone has something that floats their boat: trainspotting, football, cars, casual racism etc etc...

Possibly, but I think we're talking quite different readings on the foamometer here. Plus, one key characteristic that Daily Afraid-linked foamerage seems to produce is the Flimsly Persecution Complex (let's call it FPC). Said FPC's tend to make claims such as "the English white middle classes" are "truly oppressed people", or "we're not allowed to talk about immigration"...despite endlessly talking about immigration. I dread to think of the foam output should FPC-foamers form an alliance with railfan-foamers at the Channel Tunnel.

And there was me thinking the person who started a thread titled "I am absolutely foaming" had made a simple error.
You learn new things everyday.

I don't think so.
All foamers who resort to aggression and personal insults whilst putting their points across, automatically score maximum foamerage by default regardless of the topic they are discussing.......it says so quite clearly in the Foamometer user manual.
Err..you did read it didn't you?

FOAMERS POWER!!. and i salute you with a forward V sign LOL!!.

I think you're erring on the side of foamerage yourself here, not to mention, err overload..
Of course, another classic trait of the FPC-linked foamer is one moment they're moaning about the "PC brigade" or "freedom of speech", the next they are in a state of outrage over something that has "offended" or "insulted" them. Rizla should perhaps offer them some skin transplants to thicken up so folks don't think they are the Lily-Livered Namby Pamby Liberal Lefties they often bemoan?
Besides, Section 14, paragraph 88 of the Foamometer user manual states FPC-linked foamers are allowed to dish it out, but if some smug Namby Pamby Liberal Leftie fires back....oh noes! Bwahhhh!
