Hi! It's the silly Yankee here again, with a McDonalds question!

Well, not a Yankee, actually, since I live on the west coast, but close enough.  Never been back east.  Anyway, my question is this:  Do you lovely people in Great Britain have McDonalds Restaurants over on your side of the pond?   If so, can you please confirm or deny a RUMOR I heard today (meaning no disrespect to McDonalds!), which was this:

I was told that the Brit McDonalds is considering, or actually his serving,  Hagis Burgers, or possibly a McHagis Sandwich... You know, that actually sounds reasonable.

No they don't

They should, but only if they used REAL Haggis, cheap imitations are revolting

btw Reno

There is one thing that is missing from McDs in the UK and I think loads of other European countries

Men dressed as Ronald McDonald, far too scary, as are most of US 'clowns' to us over this side of the pond

Hi! It's the silly Yankee here again, with a McDonalds question!

Hi reno, I remember reading years ago that a Haggisburger among some other things was being considered.

From this link, it looks as if that was back in 2001

Whether or not it got as far as being trialled, I have no idea. I guess not if Al hasn't seen them.

I haven't been to Scotland for a long time, and anyway apart from stopping for a coffee on a long journey I avoid Mcdonalds.  Tried one once back in the 80s, the burgers wasn't too bad but the buns were like soggy cardboard. They have probably improved now, but I'm not tempted. Smiley Very Happy

reno, McDonalds is in just about every country in the world, unfortunately! Smiley Wink

Dreadful food and partly contributes to the increase in obesity here along with all the other fast food outlets.

As for hagis, no idea, but if McDonald's have any concience at all they won't add to the Scottish early death rate...

Yes, MacHaggis Burgers will be available on a trial basis once the shooting season starts.

Bring back the 'WIMPY BAR' to Scotland.

Hi! It's the silly Yankee here again, with a McDonalds question!

Thanks, everybody!  I would love to write the advertising copy for this one!   For instance, bumper stickers reading "Hooray for Haggis!"   or possibly "Heave for Haggis!!   But don't get me started here...

As for Ronald McDonald - the kids over here always loved him.  Then there were the rumors that the big "M" company had retired him!  You don't see much in the way of his personal appearances any more.  McDonalds seems to be very conscious of issues in the US about kids being over weight, and they're posting calorie charts on everything they serve, which is nice of them.  I think they're concentrating on something like "eat thin."

I don't know if they actually "retired" Ronald or not!!   But, if they did, I hope they gave him a nice Ronald McDonald wristwatch as a retirement present.

It's the HAMBURGLER that I really miss!!  Now that one was the kids' favorite!  Everybody loved that one!!!
