On TV programmes where someone walks up to a door and uses the knocker, there's often a bell-push at the side of the door. Why don't they use it?

Probably for tv's ' sound effect' ! ?
Pressing a bell makes a noise inside the building, so may not be heard for viewers.
If the person is being filmed outside the door, a load knock will be heard by viewers, indicating that the person is trying to call someone to open that door.
Can't think of any other reason 🤔

It amuses me when on tv / movies , you see someone carrying a suitcase swinging it about like a handbag, having no ' weight' to it at all. 🙄

But have you not noticed that a bell-push often does not work? Mine doesn't.

Since I posted this, I've seen lots of programmes where they knock on the door without trying the bell push. They can't all be inoperative. Also, it shows the programme is staged, they knock on the door and it is opened seconds later......

Because bells dont always tell the delivery person that the recipient can hear anything, knocker does.Bells fail.

A lot of the doors I'm talking about didn't have a knocker.
