Does anyone here use a HP printer? I have a HP Deskjet 3520 printer/scanner. Never really liked it, but I have stuck with it. Yesterday I went to Wilkinsons and bought a new set of four 364 ink cartridges, same as I always get. I put them in the printer today, and up pops a message telling me that I have installed 'previously used ' ink cartridges. Now..they looked ok when I bought them..same packaging. But when I opened them they were not individually plastic wrapped, as they usually are, and there was no peel off sticker and no snap off plastic thingy that they usually have, I have just tried to print with them and they are not working correctly. Wilkinsons say that if I return them I can have a refund. Has anyone else had the same problem? I am reluctant to buy more from Wilkinsons as they could be the same. Also...they cost £33....which is daylight robbery for four cartridges. Which brings me to my next question..can I use nonHP cartridges, which would be cheaper, or will my printer 'know' that they are not the real deal?

Just as an example, you can buy a new Epson expression xp245 for £25 on ebay, with the 4 inks for around £4.50,I have printed loads of photos using the cheap compatible inks and had no bother with them

Is that a printer/scanner Joe?

From the Eson website:
"it provides a printer, scanner and copier"
https://www.epson.co.uk/products/printers/inkjet-printers/consumer/expression-home-xp-245
That was the first one i looked at,probably plenty more

Thanks Joe....that's a definite possibility. I can get a new printer and some ink for less than the cost of inks for my current printer. Is that crazy or what?

Although mine is working ok, I have had it for a long time, so thought it time to get a new one.
Problem is that all the new ones seem to come with only 2 cartridges, 1 black and 1 with 3 colours.
That means if one colour runs out, I have to replace the whole 3 colour cartridge
With the 4 cartridges, I only have to replace the colour that has run out.
Have tried Epson in the past but dont like them.

cheaper to replace a printer than replacing the ink
I found that to be the case with Lexmark
