*I've finally solved my coputer switching off and restarting - did it since last autumn. Restart after debug attempt. Norton being overeager. Something in the Admin tools bowels was set to Network (when I have none) and "if fault occurs restart system" as opposed to "Restart service" or even " do nothing" Don't ask how I found it - I am not sure. I looked many hours and tried every test under the sun...if you want to know how to test your RAM, ask me....hard disk test -dito...this list could go on.....

Yup, I prefer Avast anti-virus.
A lad who knows about puters set Avast anti-virus, up for me.
You can clean out all the carp that may have been put on you PC or desk very quickly but I certainly wouldnt say no to it.
Glad it was free.
