in a technology that really is still in it's infancy, with so much going wrong :
Broadband speeds that are promised, but are a fantasy for many
Less security that an open prison
Javascript crashing......regularly
pages taking ages to load......regularly
Poor Wi-Fi signal ( if you've got a house with solid walls and therefor don't have a router, or signal booster, in practically every room )
Getting slower and slower as more and more people use it ( worldwide )......a bit like the M25
Yes I know a modern day BMW has more computing power that the old Apollo Spacecraft, but I wouldn't go to the moon in one and it wouldn't take a mechanic a week to tell me what was wrong with My spaceship...............Computers.......Bah Humbug !!

It should cut both ways shouldn't it?

Yes absolutely, the dross we associate with Jeremy Kyle I suspect.
I was thinking more of the event that took place and how the parties involved reacted, Never ever believed the interpretation of career politician's/activists, did he didn't he? why would she object to mens day yet be in favour of womens day, and just how much baiting went on? With a rich heritage of toe sucking, child abuse, perjury, fraud I think anything a politician says should be taken with a good pinch of salt.

You're supposed to be cutting down on salt?

What, you mean the ones that don't stay "on topic" just as well I don't mind innit !!
31-10-2015 6:39 PM
Yes, should be taken out and dealt with? Run over with an Evo 10?

I thought it was on topic if you were posting using a proper puter Mr Vo.
31-10-2015 6:43 PM
I wouldn't dream of doing such a thing.......I just hand them the rope and watch them do the job themselves.
31-10-2015 6:45 PM
The rope broke.

Good.....I would hate to see anybody hung just for straying "off topic" or injecting a "little humour" on such a life changingly important forum as this one.
31-10-2015 6:57 PM
Goodness, I thought the posters on this thread were being kind and curteous not to say quite friendly?
Back on topic I see Vodaphone is the latest to have customer details accessed? What does it take to encrypt data? They've got wonderful computers to help these days..................... They managed great things with Colossus?

I have to say that, if most peoples Cars performed with the same unsureness and as temperamentally as the internet and their computers do; I'm sure they'd be tempted to get rid of them.

For those who may have overlooked the OP please see the reminder below, Thank you darlings.

You are very kind and thoughtful Evo for starting this topical thread. I am often flustered by the rather indelicate manner in which broadband services stutter into life stopping and starting like an automobiles indicator light.
The finest and most costly anti virus products slow down ones technical gadget even further yet those ghastly little worms and the beastly trojans still break in to disturb our conversations and upset ones ISP.
May I also say that any previous commet made by me to others on here were lighthearted non threatening and above all made without a shred of mallice nor do I take any comments made in that manner.
My Kindest regards to all and thank you for the brief discourse.

OOOOOOoooo you're posh !!

Well, imagine having around 1600 valves like the original Colossus but Tommy Flowers who more or less invented it realised that it was the switching on and off that caused problems and I remember businesses with early computers left them on too.
I've spoken several times (over radio) to a chap who was sent to Bletchly Park and met Tommy Flowers and recently I met a very old lady who actually worked at Bletchley Park. Interesting?

I must pass on my thanks to those wonderful people at microsoft for giving me access to such marvellous word processing power.
I fully appreciate that this may not qualify fully as being on topic but I sincerely hope that before we are all cast into a pit to face the dragons of daenerys, we may be afforded an opportunity to break bread and share wine while discussing technologies finer hours.

What could the future hold for us I wonder?
31-10-2015 7:24 PM
Did any of them ever voice concerns, that a technology so young and still evolving; has been embraced so readily and been trusted so implicitly to take over so many critical areas of our lives.........or didn't that question ever crop up. I don't know about you, but I've found that people involved in certain technically innovative ares of work; tend to have blinkers on, when it comes to requiring a plan B.
