There have been many atrocities all over the world throughout history. These were acts of people not of any God.  Although some might like to hide behind a religion and their own interpretation of their scriptures, at the end of the day they have all been committed by those who felt they were more worthy than others. Fanatics can be found in all kinds of situations in this world, not only in religion.

In her 1998 book, ‘The Light in the Window,’ June Goulding describes the home in Blackrock, Cork City, as “a secret penitential jail.” She recounts how mothers were not allowed pain relief during labor.

She says that at her first Bessborough birth, she asked someone at the hospital what painkiller were used in labor.

“Nobody gets any here, nurse, They just have to suffer,” she was told.

The nun who ran the labor ward in 1951 forbad any “moaning and screaming” during childbirth. None of the mothers was allowed to talk to one another or to the nurses at the home. They were also expected to wet-nurse other women’s babies, reports the Irish Examiner.

When she asked why she could not access needles to stitch women who had been torn during childbirth, she was told: “I’m afraid, nurse, the key to that cabinet has never been handed over. Girls must suffer their pain and put up with the pain of being torn – she [the nun] says they should atone for their sin.”

Evil! That a woman would be so callous as to allow a another of her sex to suffer in what must be the most painful , frightening , & vulnerable time in their life, I don't care what their religion says it's inhuman!. I wonder how many of those poor women died of Sepsis?.

I think this came to light quite a few years ago, dreadful as it is & it truly is!. It just goes to show that even in the days when the RC Church were very powerful & the people were really scared to put a foot wrong that human nature will always win & children will be born from that natural act!. Unfortunately though as been seen in this & other findings it's the children who suffer for those instincts & the need for the Representatives of this faith to cover it up at all costs.
