Did You Know...?

Did you know...?  The Japanese word yo means 'world'.  Konichiwa is 'hello'; sayonara is 'goodbye'.  And kimono literally means 'something to wear'!

Did you know...?  The sun is actually white.  NASA tints its satellite-photos of the sun to replicate how we see it through the atmosphere.

Did you know...?  There is a word for the fear of long words.  It's 'hippopotomonstrosesquippedaliophobia', ironically.

Did You Know...?

Cats, especially striped ones, curl up to resemble a snake while they're sleeping – also, that's one of the reasons they hiss when annoyed: "I'm a snake!  Fear me!"  They sleep for twelve-to-sixteen hours per day: what they lack in depth they make up for in length.

Quick questions: How would a cat know it resembles a snake and why would it further want to resemble a snake as opposed to something that would batter a snake in a fight e.g. a cat? Also from what l can tell, curling up, hissing, etc. aren't exclusive to stripey cats.

Did you know, saying "Insomniac" backwards = saying "I must sleep" and vice-versa.

Cats have an inherent fear of snakes – that's why they're scared of cucumbers. 😜  A cat could definitely not beat a snake in a fight.

I can't remember where I read it, but the resembling-a-snake curling-up is an instinctive thing.
