Tories will get back in , in May

 with a small majority

I will certainly be voting for them , for one reason alone , Workfare

from the first dya of making a claim , they will have to work

Whether its implemented or not , can you imagine the panic attacks , the "can't work , wont work " brigade , will be having

😉

well worth the price of admission

Yes, and there will be many more bandwagons rolling up before May. One that's just pulled up is the clampdown on cold callers. If it's been thought out properly, that is.

Dont know how they are going to sort out "cold callers " , they all seem to come from India ?

What jurisdiction do the British Govt have there , or anywhere else outside our borders ?

Anybody who really cares about people , will want to see our folk , up in the morning bright and early , with bin bags in hand , clearing rubbish from the roads and waste ground

it will stop them staying up all night , and may encourage them to cook for themselves , especially Soups usuing our abundant home grown vegeatbales

they will be better nourishe d, cheaper nourished and have a better work ethic , all the better to prepare them when they go head to head against the Poles and Romanians , who have all the jobs at the moment ,   and rightly so , Jobs and money goes to the strongest and those most able .

They won't be able to sort out the actual cold callers from abroad, but they will be able to sort out the British Companies/businesses that they're calling about.

I agree with every thing you say about working for benefits, however I do think people should get a little more than just the dole for doing it. Not just as a reward for working but as an incentive.

If benefits is the only reward, then they will be getting treated exactly the same as criminals doing community service, and that doesn't seem fair. Not all unemployed people want to be in that position. My own son was devastated when he was made redundant and after 10 months of applying for jobs and not even getting a response he was losing all his self esteem. If he had been put to work on community service with the criminals I think it would have finished him off.

Thats a good point

Another point is , a couple getting housing benefit and Job seekers , will be on 10k a year for a start ( approx £60 a wk each , plus £100 rent ? )

10k a year is a job , so both can do 20 hours a week in IMO ,

 benefits are multifold

1 Gives them self respect , they will be earning and paying for their roof over head

2 They will be getting used to "work "  , and keeping their hand in

3 It will knock on the head , any notion of lifestyle benefits , the most insidious thing of all

In Fife where I live there are thousands of people on welfare , its what they do , at the same time their are thousands of people working on the farms , sowing , picking , and living in caravanns

In the evening , they all descend to the Supermarket , and you cna see they have money to spend (avergae wage £65 a day )

they then retreat to theri encampments and enjoy the fruits of their labour .

Our working class are simply unable to compete with these people , as our working clas s have forgotten how to work

the Young Scots couple may lounge around their benefit paid council house , trying to find something to smoke , while the Bulgarian migrant worker will be bringing home the bacon .

the tragedy is we are actually paying our people to be useless and lazy , and never be able to cut it on the world stage . at the same time , we pay the Bulgariians for the vital job they do .

No country can sustain our levels of long term welfare , the Govt is brave to address it .

Have to say I can't stand that ad, it's just odd. Smiley LOL  But, very cleverly superimposed.

I do mostly agree with what you say papco but putting aside those who get made redundant through no fault of their own, it's important that Cameron also addresses companies who have these short term contracts and who tend to pay minimum wage. Employees have no security and don't know if they will have work from one day to the next so planning for short term, let alone longer makes it difficult for people. It doesn't create a loyal hardworking workforce - how can it with so much uncertainty.

I can see the difficulty with this as it's a double edged sword in that UK run companies need to remain competitive, particularly when trading overseas. No easy solutions.

There's a different mindset for the Poles and Bulgarians working here as most of them are motivated to save their money to take home. They also come from a financially non supportiv culture so it's natural for them to want to work to provide for their families.

The 'celebrity' culture that has developed among some of the young, particularly those leaving school without any GCSEs and no type of apprenticeship programmes to go on, have an attitude of " entitlement' that jobs paying a lot of money should be available to them. I still remember about 10 years ago on Panorama, young boys/men were interviewed outside a Job Centre and asked if they would consider fruit picking in Kent for the Summer season. They refused and said they wouldn't get out of bed for £7.50 ph... I can't understand this attitude. I'd like to bet these boys are still claiming benefits, tragic really.
