I have just sold an item to someone in Europe.
The Feedback is 100% for this Customer so it is impressive. I therefore decided to look at this months Feedback, and was quite surprised that I was denied access to it, as the Buyer has made it Private.
This is the page that explains it in detail.
http://pages.ebay.co.uk/help/feedback/profile-public-private.html
Now why would a Buyer do this?
Also what is the point of Feedback for a Buyer anyhow, as Sellers can only leave positive Feedback.? So surely there is little point in hiding what can only be positive comments.
Private Feedback only applies to Buyers.
Sellers automatically have Public Feedback.
This all seems very strange and pointless to me. What say you?

It means you can't see the awful feedback they leave the sellers who refuse to refund them

LOL but there is actually a grain of truth in that - why would buyers want to make their feedback private unless they did indeed have something to hide?
Ebay's own Community Values state:
We believe that an honest, open environment can bring out the best in people.
http://pages.ebay.co.uk/help/community/values.html
Therefore it seems a tad contradictory to then turn around and give one whole section of their usership the means to hide their feedback from others?
Incidentally it took me ages to actually find the Community values. They used to be on the main Community landing page but now they are hidden away in some obscure help page that no one can find without the aid of Google LOL

He could have several reasons for keeping it private. He may have family members or friends who use ebay and doesn't want them to see what he's bought. He may use his ID for posting just as I do, and in order to post more than 10 times you need 11/12 or whatever the amount is to post more than that. Or, as lola suggested he may not be such a great buyer and leaves strange feedback for his seller, or he may be a cross dresser and buys underwear etc.
I'm not absolutely sure but I don't think you can "buy" when keeping your feedback private, I honestly can't remember as it's a long time since I used this ID to buy anything.

You can buy with private feedback you just can't sell if you feedback is set to 'private'

Ah, I got it the wrong way round, thanks!

Well he's paid.
And the item is on the way to Switzerland fully insured, and tracked and registered etc.,
Because it is such a high value item, I'm watching things very closely, call it instinct.

I'm sure it will be fine, Ronnie but good luck anyway x
