Aircraft incidents and accidents

I've never been involved in a civilian accidents but I can recall a few "panicky" moments for your delrctation and amusement.

The first was a flight leaving Manchester heading for Las Vegas. We were about 15 minutes into the flight and all the warning lectures had endedand all was going quiet. All at once the Oxygen masks came down from the overhead recepticles. There was no warning about them but everybody reached for one in accordance with an overhead loudspeaker warning. There were all sorts of alarms going off and the stewardesses were running round like blue bottomed flies. Then the captain came on the tannoy system saying something like, "My apologies ladies and gentlemen, I seem to have accidentally pressed the wrong button. There is no need for any alarm."

Lastly, leaving Manchester again, we were parcked up at the end of the runway with the engines firingup and then we were off. hammering down the runway at a great rate of knots. Then we were airborne and off into the blue. but then the engines ceased and we just stopped climbing. We all thought we were going to crach but then the engine revs took over again and we were off. A look out of the port windows showed a twin engined aircraft had passed jusr ahead and below us causing our skipper to take evasive action.

Now I have half an idea of what the Las Vegas passengers felt

Aircraft incidents and accidents

Hi Petal,

Just remembering that first one again with my missus and she reminded me of a funny bit about the whole situation (Apart from getting £400 comp for each filled seat,(lol) We were sat in a row of 4 in the centre of the plane. I was on the left with the boss next to me. Then came a bloke we didn't know and his missus.

Ok, so when the alarms went off and the oxygen masks fell down, my wife, being the life saver and all that, saw that mine was in place and reached for her own and then saw that the guy on her right was fast asleep. So without so much as a how do you do, she grabbed the mask from over his head and rammed it over his face. I'll tell you what. He woke up a bit sharpish, lol.
