The two 20-year-olds have been held in custody in the South American country for the past five months after 11kg of cocaine was found in their luggage.
Both women maintained that they knew the drugs - worth an estimated £1.5m - were in their bags, but that a gang forced them at gunpoint to carry the cocaine.
The pair, who have already served four months in custody, faced a maximum of 15 years in prison if the case went to trial and they were found guilty.
They said they decided to plead guilty in the hope of getting a lighter sentence.

Now the campaign has started to get them to serve their terms in British jails. Why? Foreigners who come here to commit crimes are filling our jails, and it seems to be difficult to get rid of them when they have served their sentence. So why should these chav junkies be brought here as well?

'Peru Two' could be freed in less than three years and serve part of sentence in UK: Girls jailed for attempting to smuggle £1.5m worth of cocaine

The armed police and handcuffs on their wrists told a different story.
Minutes later, Melissa Reid and Michaella McCollum Connolly were sentenced to six years and eight months in jail for attempting to smuggle £1.5million worth of cocaine out of Peru.

Never mind they will not get back here that quick.
Time enough at that TOUGH prison too soften them up quite a bit. And those damn cockroaches will sleep with them at night.
