hi all
just been watching the BBC news at ten..and there saying ebay knew 3 months ago that our details such as date of birth ..home address and phone numbers have been hacked ......there for its well possible your identity may have been stolen !!!!!
is this yet another reason to NOT trust ebay ...with all the constant rule changes for sellers ..and the non existant sellers protection...
do i feel this is another nail in the ebay coffin ?

Given the long delay in informing us when the security breach was back in Feb/March, I wonder if we would ever have been told at all if the news had not got out?
The article in the Telegraph implies that the news of the hacking was leaked. That makes some sense since the hacking seems to have first been heard on the News, not from ebay. Is this why ebay had to make a long overdue announcement about it?
Even if it is true that ebay didn't know themselves until a fortnight or so ago, that is still a long time before letting their members know.
"A British security expert branded eBay’s reaction to the attack “slipshod” this morning, as emails warning customers that their details were stolen have still not been sent out, almost 24 hours after news of the security breach was inadvertently leaked"

As I said on a different thread, if somebody wants to steal my identity and pay off all my credit card bills in the process, I'd kiss them on both cheeks!
That's exactly the reason I don't bank on line.

Why oh why do people resurrect an eleven year old thread rather than starting a much more relevant new one?
It's life Jim, but not as WE know it.
