Hi all, pippy_oak here, posting under my brand new user name. Hopefully, Richard will pin this thread, as it seems a nice tidy place to pose specific questions about a book (Is it a 1st edition, what's it worth, where to find it etc. etc.) Don't just come here with a question. If you think you have the answer, then let's hear it.

Or we could just mooch around and learn a few things.

The Modern Shotgun, Vol 1 The Gun by Major Sir Gerald Burrard, published by Ashford, Buchan and Enright as part of 'The Field Library'.

The book is a reissue of the 1944 second edition.

I'm trying to list this on ebay.com where there is the ISBN checker for pre-filled info. Problem is it comes up with the wrong ISBN and doesn't recognise the one printed in the book.

Also there doesn't seem to be an appropriate category for such an item.

Any ideas anyone?

BTW - I don't think they set much store by the ISBN checker because it brings up the Muse entry which, in many cases, is incorrect.

I may be totally wrong! 🙂

I have put the question on the US booksellers board. Before I put it here.

Seems they're all away doing something else at the moment. Either that or they don't have an answer.

Can't imagine it is the latter with Fine on there freely dispensing book lore.

It's Saturday, they'll be off to library sales and auctions, and Oldbookshop has a B&M shop.

Hi, I have a copy of
"A Sentimental Journey Through France & Italy, VOL II" by Mr Yorick, dated 1780.

As anybody any idea of it's value, or how I could go about getting an accurate valuation?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Addall found 184 with your title. Click on the link below and have a browse through for one which matches yours. Remember that the prices quoted are for books which haven't yet sold.

I think the prices are quoted in dollars but clicking on any book gives a price in pounds or the opportunity to convert the price.

The only one I could find dated 1780.

Looks like it should be two volumes. Possible you have both bound into one.

Steve, when I put 'Burrard' in the Search box, your book doesn't show up - even when I click for International sellers. I tried 'modern shotgun' - still nothing. I've been searching since you said you'd listed it. I've only just found it, by going to your listings.

If you've only got one watcher, that's me! I don't know how people are supposed to find it. I nearly always search by author.

It has had 15 viewings - but 6 or so of those are there in the first minute.

It shows up when I search Burrard on dot com, but I can't get it to show on a search on dot uk.

I'm beginning to wonder what on earth is going on when UK sellers are advised to list books on dot com where UK buyers may not be able to see them.

This is definitely in my area, but I can only find references to it, not any guide to price...

It was suggested on another board that if you list on .com that you make use of Auctiva which has the facility to show all your listings scrolling across your description.

This will enable US viewers to see thumbnails of your other items without having to click on 'view sellers other items'.

I don't know how effective it is but it costs nothing.

It wasn't on this board was it 😮 Ah well, even if it was it's worth a reminder.

Anybody looking at his UK listing should find it if they click on sellers other items.
