My business is registered in England and Wales (registered office is in England,) but the item locations are in Northern Ireland (VAT address is in Northern Ireland.) My UK VAT number is my OSS ID (not IOSS) valid for intra-EU movements and sales.
But eBay is collectng VAT on my EU orders? I already reported it to seller support, but they tried telling me I was wrong, then they referred it to specialists.
Same thing happened on Amazon, and it took me ages to realise they weren't going to do anything about it, so I had to set my registered business address to my VAT address, and their system now doesn't collect VAT on EU sales.
This started a few days ago when I was asked to update the company information on the account. eBay asked for registered business address, so I gave the English registered office address (previously it was set to an address in Northern Ireland and for 5 years I had been collecting the VAT on EU sales, which I am legally obligated to do.)
So it needs to be fixed. Posting it as a technical issue, because the system should be set up to recognise the uncommon but possible situation where a company is registered outside Northern Ireland (yet inside the UK) but it ships all orders from Northern Ireland (therefore VAT is to be collected by the seller, NOT by eBay.)
This has been the law since 2021.
