How do I make a complaint to eBay?

I spent several hours yesterday speaking to various  ebay repres about ebay withholding funds until I authenticate my Bank details. Unfortuntaly ebay themselves place obstacles that prevent me authenitcated my Account i.e. ebay have not supplied the 2 micro deposits that allow me to do so.

Obviously I wish to complain about this but claimed Ebay do not provide a means to complain other than you can use the feedback page: "Tell us what you think" (this only allows up to 500 characters) and you will not get a reply to the communication.

There is an email address     PaymentsinfoUnitedKingdom@ebay.co.uk      hidden within the current Terms of Conditions/User Agreement, however if you write (as I did) the messages bounce back as 'undeliverable'.

In truth, ebay do not have a Complaints Procedure or decline to let customers know what it is. Basically, every avenue for Complaints leads back to "Go back to start do not pass Go!'

That "Tell us what you think" form is an interesting concept.

I'd love to hear that anyone has reason to suspect their submission has ever led to change.  Or been read.

Meanwhile I'll keep an open mind.

Thats not an excuse from a multi million pound organasation to not have a complaints process about any kind of issue. What other company with any integrity does this?? very few and id say zero of the size of ebay.

One of THE worst customer service based global companies around

I think its about the fact that they felt insulted by the patronising "ebay are there to make a profit" comment , thats why they said mind your buisness basically, to be honest id feel the same. Whopie do! ebay are there to make money , we all get that but at the expense of having a **bleep** customer service platform? I think some of the "experts" on here need a massive wake up call. When something happens to them they are not happy with. A "billion" pound global company and this is the best way of venting or asking for assistance?? its a patheitc system

Nearly 6 months on... just confirming that I've not heard of a single instance, even by private message.  My mind is less and less open on this.

Complaints departments cost money - this cost would be passed onto sellers with increased fees

On the contrary, a well run complaints department can indirectly add a lot of revenue, you're not looking at the bigger picture.

I have had my share of problems on ebay, so I wont pretend I am satisfied with the service received-ebay is a selling platform, however when you pay a subscription it is reasonable to expect that ebay supply the service as advertised in its full and unbroken form.

That being said, if you do speak to CS and are struggling to get your issue resolved-whatever that may be-you can ask to speak to the leadership team and I have found them to be very helpful and do try their hardest to sort out your issue.

If you are having a very specific issue and a CS rep promises a certain action to correct it, I advise asking them to send a short email to you whilst you are on the phone to confirm. A paper trail is immensely helpful if/when the issue is not resolved. I have had cause to do this myself in the past couple of days but the final member of the leadership team I spoke to fully resolved the specific issue. It helped I had created a paper trail from 4 other CS agents.

Best of luck getting it sorted.

Hello ,

Today I almost fell a victim to a scum which is advertised on eBay by  Complete Savings . They offer a credit of ~£ 16 and charge £ 15/month for  this " favour " . If I see  this advert again , I will never  contact eBay again . I thought that there was  some verification going within eBay ?

Yours sincerely

Sounds like you won't be contacting ebay again then.

Watch out, its a common advert on multiple sites. Not a scam, just not something you want.

Companies such as that pay a site to advertise. You see the ad and click it .... and things progress from there.

Just ignore such ads in future.

I opened a return request as wrong item was sent, seller ignored this and did not send a label. I have asked ebay to step in (there is no option on the returns request for some reason to do this) so I emailed ebay. They are ignoring me.

Ebay don't do emails.  Scroll down to the bottom of this link for call back or live chat options.

What email address did you use?

Don't think I've seen a general purpose email address for some time for them. They have a few specific email addresses for particular purposes, not something us sellers bother with.

I just had a phone call from ebay and everything has been cleared up and sorted.
After a long day with many failing it has ended very well.
No need for trade standards or going through a long explanation
of why i wanted to seek trade standards.
Thanks for reply my day has been exhusting sorting things out.

Great.

Just be sure they did not tell you what you want to hear but actually sorted stuff out.

Lots of people have been promised things that turn out to be made up or even illegal if it was done. eBay are very good at getting people off the phone by telling them what they want to hear. Call over. Next time you call you are someone else's problem.

They can occasionally get things right. Think I have heard of them doing that three times this year - plenty of threads I do not open so number actually right could be higher.
